@Esnoult ****
you appreciate the advise, but just ignore it? It really is best to get here with non-o and not with tourist visa or visa exempt.

@Paul *******
unfortunately there is not one best in all cases.

For larger amounts just compare at the moment of transfer.

For lower amounts just choose what is convenient at that moment, you don't win or loose big in that case.

@Paul *******
you should compare including all costs, and also check if receiver is charged, then you can compare.

Wise and Revolut both have advantages and disadvantages, but since both have free accounts, just get both.

In case of problems with one, you always have the other.

Remitly and Western Union is also worth to look at, but are most times more expensive.

Gold and silver I agree, bitcoin is just speculating.

You pay for bitcoin because you believe others will pay more for it later.

In itself it has no value, just like normal valuta, but at least normal valuta still have a country saying it has value for what that promise is worth.

the rate is indeed low, THB is extrenely expensive, it is up over 12 percent in half a year, and the worrying thing almost every week you gel less for your money.

I just wonder where this ends.

Thai stock only goes down, so since stock market normally is a prediction of future economy, they expect economy to go down.

Very weird THB goes up in this situation.

@Steve ******
I hope you are right about the low exchange rate.

Since July 2024 it seems the exchange rate of THB only knows one direction, regardless of compared to GBP, USD or EUR

Who told anything about confiscate, that is what you keep telling.

I only say there are internationally rules agreed about exchange driver licenses, just as there agreements about acceptance of IDP, but Paul James just thinks he knows everything better, but he cannot explain why he should know better.There is no evidence that he has any additional professional knowledge in this area

@Sean ******
make fun of it, but I can assure you they don't just throw away the info you send with your application, It is foolish to think that they only keep the information on your visa itself.

@David *******
Please give a link to the figures, you seem to know where they are.

I think it is impossible to have them, because nobody knows how much more a few DTV holders spend in Thai economy.

I have a DTV, but I did spend much more in Thai economy before I got the visa.

In the 2 years before I had DTV I brought in about 5M, since I have DTV it is less than 200K.

How would anybody get this in figures if people are not asked what they spend.

As I look regular here, I see most people applying for the visa are already living in Thailand, so they are not boosting the economy.

But since you say it can be easily measured, please come with reliable figures, and not just shouting it is a success, because your assumptions look wrong to me.

Everybody here is asking for soft power as cheap as possible, and has problems to keep 500K as financial reserve.

That is not the kind of people you want to attract to your country if you want to boost your economy.
