Right now it looks like Yangon is a sure way to turn around by air until March 22nd. Don't take this as 100% certainty but this is based on what Air Asia told me at Yangon airport today. Hoping all goes well as I arrive back in Bangkok this evening.
Air Asia at Yangon Int'l Airport is saying they will not be stopping anyone from boarding flights to Bangkok until 22 March.
No idea what will happen after arriving in Bangkok with Immigration, etc but it looks like Myanmar could a safe bet for an in and out by air until 22 March. I'll be more certain of this after arriving in Bangkok this evening.
Latest report from DMK this afternoon is that the test and insurance would be mandatory for all travellers starting tonight at Midnight. Lot's of conflicting information right now but this is what the Airline told me after I insisted a bit to check. They went to Immigration to find out and this is what I was told.
Hoping to get back in to Thailand this evening with no issues.
have you inquired with Air Asia in Yangon about coming back into Thailand today and if they're going to br requiring all visitors to have the Covid-19 test?
I just checked with the Air Asia Sales Desk and the Check in Counter before checking in. They went to Immigration to ask about flights arriving from Myanmar today (March 20th, 2020) and they said I would be fine to travel back in to Thailand without a Covid-19 Test.
I will confirm this after arrival for anyone who's looking for further information. Fingers Crossed. 🤞
"All nationals, except Thai nationals, from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Republic of Korea, Iran, Italy and those with a travel history to France, Spain, United States of America, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, Ireland and Japan (risk areas: Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi, Wakayama, Kanagawa, Chiba, Okinawa, Kyoto and Osaka) within the past 14 days must comply and present the following documents at the airport before acceptance"
Seems as if you've been in Thailand(no travel history as per above), go to Myanmar and return back to Thailand before Sunday, you should, in theory, be allowed back in without a covid test or proof of insurance. I'll update this thread for anyone who's interested. Going to Yangon and back today.
"From Sunday on the government will extend the requirement of medical certificates and health insurance to cover all visitors to the country regardless of nationalities to curb the spread of the coronavirus." - Bangkok Post
Could you update us on how this goes for you? I'm planning on doing this myself today or Tomorrow. I'm hoping there's no need for a medical certificate or a mandatory quarantine after arriving in to Thailand again from Myanmar. 🙏
