I am Canadian and i know what i am talking about. This isn't the place nor the time and each to his own. You are very quick to judge and draw assumptions when you don't know the ABC of what some people go through.
I made my Non-O visa while i was in Thailand. I used an agency. Then i made my retiree visa. This year Feb was my third renewal with my agent. No hassles, no problems, no going to the immigration, no bank deposit. I just pay them a nominal fee plus 4000 thb for multiple entry visa. Within 2 biz days I get my passport with my visa by courier. Luckily I did it before the onset of the pandemic. 3 years down the line i have had peace of mind.
Covid extension means you are not able to leave Thailand so how can you get a re-entry permit? If you can leave Thailand it means you don't need covid extension.
We who have retired here and living here for years do not get such privileges. Even if we left the country and returned on our valid retiree visa, we had to go through all the same protocols just as any tourist (though we are NOT tourists coming in only for a short time). Do you think others will get such privileges as sought in these posts? This is one reason why I have not left at all. More expensive to return. I am waiting for normalcy as pre-Covid days.
lots of halal food no worries. may be in small villages with non muslim population there might be a problem but in any of the main cities no problem. you will always find a couple of Halal places even if sold by non muslims.
The insurance is mandatory to cover Covid expenses if the tourist gets infected. It's the government's way of protecting themselves or who else is going to pay for the the Covid expenses? So I think that is something that should stay. Just as retirees have to have medical insurance coverage. Thailand is not a free country for medical expenses like how we have back home. But I believe even the US doesn't have adequate medical coverage like Canada e.g.
come on guys. Someone is asking for serious help and you guys are spelling out violence with guns, hammers etc. Be reasonable in reaching out for help and advice. At this time I am not sure of the legalities here but expats resorting to violence in any form will go down bad for us in the end coz we are not citizens here. I will perhaps search for some proper legal advise before I give unreasonable comments.
