Hello all. I had a slight update that may not change any of the answers, but I felt it is necessary to add.
I spoke with the university today and mentioned what I had learned here.
She agreed that right now there is no rule regarding it but that the government official who is in charge of it all is changing to a new person next year and there are a lot of changes and new rules coming out, and the university was forwarned about the one regarding the "students must have student visas" . And therefore highly recommend I speak with an official at immigration.
Seeing as rules seem to change so quickly I may go ahead and speak to immigration. I always dot my "I"s and cross my "t"s with this stuff....but sometimes they whirl around and change an "i" into a "Q".
Thought you all should know that I was able to check into my flight the night before and am now past immigration....stamped out of Thailand on the 22nd.
....now to get cozy and sleep at the airport’s international terminal and await my 7am departure...
yeah a certificate of residence. Went to immigration and paid 500THB so I could pick it up he next day. If you want it free then you have to wait 30 days I believe. You need a copy of your rental agreement, TM.30, copy of passport and picture. Then bring your international license and the certificate to the motor vehicle place
I have an international driving license so I was able to apply to get the Thai license without taking the test. I just had to watch a 1 hour safety video.
