Hi folks, a while ago I posted about cancelling an extension of stay based on studying a university degree before the official date of graduation. Just wanted to give a short update in case anyone was interested: I just finished a 30 minute phone call with immigration and they basically told me they have no pre-intended process foe a case like this and that I should contact the immigration at their premises.
What would you do in my case?
Usually Thai students end their studies by doing a mandatory internship and in many (most?) Cases, the places where they do their internship will offer them a contract to stay with them after graduation. This is also the case for me. They would like me to continue working right away, but I told them that I wouldn't start until we got my visa and work permit worked out. So they already started that process to make it as quick of a transition as possible. But officially I don't graduate until December this year. Obviously neither the company nor me can wait this long, considering that we can only start applying for my work permit after i cancelled my student visa and changed to a visa that actually supports a work permit. Tricky, isn't it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is in a complicated situation regarding their visa status while transitioning from studying to working in Thailand. They are currently facing challenges due to the timing of their graduation in December and the need for a work permit, which requires an updated visa. After a discussion with immigration, they were advised to contact local immigration directly for guidance. Comments suggest alternative routes, including potential options for obtaining a work permit or non-B visa without needing to wait for official graduation.
You don’t need a student visa to study. Why can’t you just get the job and apply for the work permit and non-b visa (or extension)? You don’t need to graduate or have a degree to get the work permit, providing its not a teaching job.
i know, the thing is I'm leaving the country next month to see my family. The plan is to get non b from there. So I will definitely have to cancel my current extension of stay otherwise I will have problems when re-entering.
U should have had your work permit and vida while you worked. Even wothout pay. The uni shpuld have helpef u with that. That is what they did with my Chinese stufents.
