Hey Everyone,

I’m going to Thailand in January for three months to do an internship. I am coming from Australia. What is the best way to go about getting a visa, is it possible to do it online or do I need to go to the embassy/consulate. I’ve heard from another group that I may need the company to submit one for me. Just looking for a bit of advice.

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best way to obtain a visa for an internship in Thailand involves applying at a Thai consulate or embassy since Australians cannot use the eVisa system. Your company must provide proof of your internship for your visa application, and there are different visa types depending on the nature of your internship, including NON-O and NON-ED visas. It's advisable to check the specific requirements on the website of the relevant Thai embassy or consulate.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

It depends on what your internship is. If volunteer can get a non immigrant type O visa. Some internships can also do on a Non immigrant ED visa. I have done both, also from Aus

Australia does not use evisa so you cannot do it online. I believe one of the Thai consulates does use an online system for pre-approval before you send all your documents to them with your passport.

You apply for your own visa but your company will need to provide you with proof that you need that visa for you to add to your application. You should be checking the website of your Thai embassy or consulate for their requirements.

you've been given good advice by Brandon, it is the Royal Thai Consulate in Sydney that requires pre-approval online. They are very easy to deal with, and if you live in Sydney you can attend for a face to face service. Check out their website
