TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around internships for international culinary arts students in 5-star hotels in Phuket. Participants recommend networking through local expatriate groups and directly contacting hotels. However, there are concerns about the current lack of operational capacity in the hotel industry, which may affect internship opportunities and skills development for students due to the ongoing impact of closures.
The hotels don't have enough work for their existing staff and few customers to allow interns to develop their skills. This is going to lead to a lack of skilled people to reopen the industry.

Worst timing ever. A friends son is doing this and he often has nothing to do with almost everything closed.
no it will not be anything like a normal high season at all that's just not going to happen. But hopefully we will at least start to see some recovery. It's not great for young people trying to get a start in the hotel and hospitality industry.

high season historically is November to March. However at the moment it's low, low season and expected to not be a high season at least until next year. A third of hotels have permanently shut, bars and restaurants are on a knife edge of survival. Not the best timing....thailand is not doing well at all on the tourism side at the moment. Probably best to look elsewhere for that internship.
