Hello I am a foreign student coming to attend my bachelor in Thailand. I am currently being considered for a paid internship from a company overseas, how would my situation be? I know you can't have paid internships in Thai but the company is from overseas.

Would this be considered violating my student visa?

What other laws / taxes should I worry about?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A foreign student in Thailand considering a paid internship with an overseas company is seeking clarification about potential violations of their student visa. Since the internship is not based in Thailand, it is unlikely to violate the student's visa conditions. However, it's important to check for any tax implications based on tax treaties between Thailand and the intern's home country, as there might not be tax obligations in Thailand if the work is performed abroad. Additionally, the university's student services can provide support and guidance regarding any regulations.

The UNI that u are attending will help u. Talk to student services.

Most likely Thailand has a treaty with the other country to avoid double taxation, and it's not uncommon that such treaties stipulate that you owe tax in the country where you do the work. So you'd be paying tax over your earnings there and not in Thailand. Visa wise you're also fine; you don't work in Thailand so don't need a permit for that or special visas.

But check if the tax thing does indeed apply as I said. It depends on the country.

It seems Netherlands has a treaty with Thai regarding this issue so I should be good to go. Only worry seems to be the new tax laws that keep getting pushed back.

it's not to be expected that they'll double tax your income. They can't, if a treaty forbids it.
