Hello everyone 🤗

I will study at a university in Bangkok as an exchange student from Germany from August until December this year. Following that I have to fulfill a curricular internship for 5 months. Probably from January until May next year. After that I want to stay a little bit longer in Thailand to travel. Around 2-3 months. So I need visa for a total of 12-13 months but with different purposes along the way. Does anyone have any tips for a solution where I also don’t have to leave the country every 3 months to get a new stamp?

I would greatly appreciate any tips, suggestions, or personal experiences you can share regarding this matter. Thank you all in advance for your help!🫶🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual from Germany is seeking advice on managing visa requirements while studying and interning in Thailand for 12-13 months. Suggestions include obtaining an education visa that covers both the study and internship period, and considering tourism visas for further travel. The importance of securing proper documentation from the university and potential visa extensions or changes was highlighted.

Forget about visas for different purposes.

Get your education visa sorted first and try and include internship on that. Tourism visa later

yes, they gave me all the documents like letter of acceptance and letter for the embassy. I was just thinking if I can apply for only one visa for my whole duration or if I have to apply for ed study visa first, then change to internship visa and then change to tourist visa

does internship not come under ED visa, is the internship organised by the university? To get a tourist visa you need to be outside of Thailand.

the internship is mandatory in the curriculum of my home university in Germany but we have to find and organize it by ourselves. In terms of the tourist visa, so I guess I have to go to Vietnam or somewhere else near and request tourist visa to Thailand from there?

sounds like you will need two ED visas in that case plus a tourist visa. Yes you can go to a Thai embassy in a nearby country to apply for a tourist visa.
