Do I need a certificate of marital status for a Thai visa extension if married to a Thai citizen?

Two friends have just received yearly visa extensions at Pattaya by virtue of marriage to a Thai woman, but both had to get certificated proof that they are still married, (i.e and have not divorced).

Is this a new hoop to go through?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recently, two friends in Pattaya were required to provide certified evidence of their marriage for a yearly visa extension based on their marriage to Thai women. This has raised questions about whether this is a new requirement. Community responses indicate that procedures can vary by immigration office, and the Kor Ror 2 certificate, confirming marital status, may indeed be requested more frequently now, especially for non-retirement visa extensions. Some mentioned that while this document is not typically required for retirement visa extensions, providing it may help ease the process and demonstrate ongoing marital status.

I’m shutting this down. Different immigration offices have different policies about this certificate. This certified is *NOT NEEDED* if you are applying for an extension of stay based on retirement, or an extension of stay based on employment, or any other non-marriage employment of stays.

If anything wants this reopened send a mod a message.

Standard, KR2 or 22 paper from Amphoe. They even wanted this last year when I changed from O Marriage to O Retirement. The latter is highly recommended, easiest and fastest way possible if you have the finances.

We married in SG, so had to show the KR22. I don't know why, they just needed some proof that I was still married the year before I guess, similarly to the 12 months bank statement.

The Kor Ror 2 <- means you were married INSIDE thailand and also got a Kor Ror 3 <-(that rose bordered certificate too)

The Kor Ror 22 is the form they issue when a thai is married abroad and registers that marriage in thailand.

Totally different forms :)

its a legal document. The actual marriage was you want marry him yes sign big book. You want marry her yes sign beside in big book. That is for the legal issued document costing 20B. They still have the book

no it's something you go to the local Amphur (city hall) and have the clerk access your marriage in their system and then print a current Kor Ror 2

Thanks mate.

According to my pal, it's going to be a requirement for all such visas.

Have you heard anything to this effect?

and yours MIGHT NOT be in the system SO if you're fixing to get a new one (just in case you might need one) GO to an amphur and see if your marriage info was even put into the system

if not you're gonna hafta go to the amphur where you got married to have them enter the data into their system and print a new one for you.

but we have original document. I do retirement as easier for immigration. Yea a couple new things with money in bank last few years, caused by those lying on an offical income statement.

they want that every year these days. And every year new one so they can see what you are still married. I have to do it also.

well if you do your extension based on retirement you shouldn't need ANY of those marriage docs.

True. However it caused immigration to be far nicer and asking for all sorts of stuff. Previously until some caused many problems it was a piece of cake with income letter, which was ended due to a few bad guys. So then the officials were under heavy scrutiny all the way up. 1st time, funds there in bank as required, but each x3 had to check every detail, map, etc, finally a supervisor checked, then to head there. Having our marriage document there, although nor required eased concern of their doing or missing something. A few in our community caused all this to happen which is sad. A lot is at officer discretion, or was.
