TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around various expat experiences in Thailand, including their visa types and personal stories. Participants share their initial visits, reasons for returning, and the different visas they hold, such as the NON-O and family visas. Many have moved to Thailand permanently or semi-permanently and describe their love for the lifestyle, culture, and people. There are also comments on the contrast of living in Thailand during quiet times, like the COVID-19 pandemic, and personal anecdotes about family and marriage to Thai nationals.

First time 2023. We moved here November 2023 and I had non o trailing spouse visa when moving here pattaya. We make money and memories here so when I retire age of 45 it's easy to smile and enjoy life here. I have business visa and I think I'm going to apply citizenship after 3 years living here. We can adopt hardworking childrens to help in everyday life🤡🤦‍♂️😂 we want enjoy life not changing diapers in40s😅 Hope you nice life too🙏🇹🇭

Don’t live here permanently, UK Winter months November to April only

First came in 2009 30 day Tourist Visa , stayed with an ex work mate who had a Farm near Korat

Just loved it ,came back every year till I met the Thai Lady who I married in 2014 who has two adult children

Since then I have used 90 day multi entry visas or single entry plus two 30 day visa runs flying out of Bangkok where we now have a house

Some years my Wife travels back with me to UK where I still have a home

Spent a full year here during Covid

Not sure whether I would retire here as I would need something to occupy my mind

Made a lot of friends here over the years

Been coming to Thailand on and off since 1974 after living there from 1968-70. I come back pretty much every year now and stay 4-6 months in Asia. I come in on Visa Exempt because we stay 30 days, leave and go to Malaysia, Bali and beyond for near a month in each. Contemplating retiring in Thailand if things get much crazier in the US😅 I feel very much at home in Thailand.

Hubby has been travelling to Thailand for years before I met him. He brought me over around 11 years ago for holiday and broached possibly retiring here. We retired in 2022, arrived in Thailand Jan 2023, and we both love our life here. While neither of us are Thai, we love the people, the food and the culture. Where else could we live beachfront, sitting outside with a cool ocean breeze and listen to the waves lapping on the shore on a pension?
