TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about applying for a DTV visa while registering for an online language school. Responses indicate that language schools typically do not fulfill the requirements for a DTV visa application, as they are mostly accepted under the Education Visa. Additionally, online courses are not recognized for visa purposes. Recommended activities under the DTV include in-person classes such as Thai cooking or Muay Thai, which are part of the Soft Power initiatives. Further advice was shared regarding the visa application process and the necessity of engaging in approved activities.

We’re based in Chiang Mai and our cooking school also supports the DTV Visa program.

We mainly offer private cooking classes, so we don’t advertise too much just to avoid overbooking. 😄

All of our DTV students have been approved without any issues.

If you’re interested, feel free to contact us anytime!

You don't need a visa of any kind for an online language school, just sign up and study online from your home country. If you want to study thai language inside Thailand then sign up with the school and get the paperwork from them to apply for an ED visa. For the DTV you need to be either a remote worker/digital nomad or apply for one of the approved soft power activities medical, cooking or Muay Thai having signed up with a facility that will provide proof of a bare minimum of 6 months activity preferably longer

Hello, I'm assuming you are referring to the activities accepted under DTV Thai Soft Power categories. Language schools are mostly accepted only under the Education Visa, while the two most accepted activities under DTV Soft Power are learning Thai Boxing or Thai Cooking Classes (in-person classes)

Like others have mentioned, you will likely get rejected applying for the DTV visa using a language school. Besides language schools not being accepted, online courses are also not recognised.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, we've assisted over 250 students successfully attain their DTV visa through our cooking programs so we are quite familiar with the process

We are based in Bangkok. So unless you visit often, it may be better to find a reputable cooking school or muay thai gym in Chiang Mai.

That said, we do have several students that travel monthly from Phuket, Pattaya, and Hua Hin! In case, I wish you all the best on your journey :)

I think there is a DTV hybrid course in CM that offers cooking and some Thai language lessons. You should be able to find it in the threads, I forgot the school name.

You must work online, but Softpower activities must be done in person In Thailand.

You should do some more research because they already have a visa for that but you can go ahead and waste your money on a DTV application that will 100% get denied
