Hey all, for the Canadians who moved to Thailand, what did you do with your phone number? I saw a youtube video about Google Voice as a solution to keep your existing number but it doesn't work for Canada. Would love to hear your solutions. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Canadians moving to Thailand are seeking solutions for managing their phone numbers. Suggestions include getting a phone that supports eSIMs for multiple numbers, using the Fongo app to port their number for free local calls, or opting for voip.ms to handle VoIP services, allowing for call and SMS capabilities.

I went with voip.ms and ported my cell service to their VoIP service. Requires a bit of technical experience but it allowed me to make/receive calls, voicemail and receive SMS.

You can download a Canadian app.

Fongo and port your cell number to it for $25.

And then local Canadian calls are free

Yearly unlimited Canadian text plan is about $18.

We use it.

Our family and friends can call just like we're in Canada.

dont get a sim card off lazada. You can get the unlimited 5g package for that price or 200 baht less if u walk into an ais store. Postpaid plan but u can cancel anytime and u can pay from myais app 🤗 unless i understand it wrong and its 1529 one time payment for a full year then its a no brainer but i doubt that.

you bet, we are in our second year of it.

I've even run our tvs for streaming off of it.

It's actually unlimited but high speed for 100g then they throttle it back.

Never gone over.
