I would like to apply for the DTV visa. What's the best way to do it in my situation, and which consulate should I use (preferably online)?

* US citizen, currently living in Mexico as a resident. I use a mailbox address in South Dakota for official mail, banking, taxes, driver’s license, etc.

* I have an online business (sole proprietorship) with volatile income which is enough to cover my expenses. I also have investments in stocks and index funds, which I can use to cover expenses if needed. For the business, it’s hard to provide client recommendations, but I have tax returns and 1099s from previous years.

* Planning to slow travel in Thailand and SEA starting early next year. Ideally, I’d like to apply online before arriving but can wait and apply in Vietnam or another SEA country if that’s easier.

Questions:

* Can I apply online at a US consulate or in Mexico, or should I wait until I’m in SEA?

* Can I use my business and income for the DTV, or is it better to go the “soft power” route (e.g., cooking, Muay Thai)? Does it affect using the DTV for 5 years, getting extensions etc, if I’m not pursuing those activities?

I'm a US citizen. On round the world trip currently.

I flew from Bangkok to Malaysia to exit Thailand so I could apply for the DTV Visa.

Am I misunderstanding something -- do I need to be physically in the US to apply for the DTV through the e-visa option?

Have no intention of flying back to the US this year.

DTV Address Verification (US Citizen)

The Thai Consulate (e-visa) requested a utility bill or driver's license for address verification to process my DTV. My driver's license is from another state and all the utility bills are in my dad's name.

Does anyone have any experience using alternative documents for address verification?

Hi I’m an US citizen and I applied for the METV in my home country in the US in the beginning of May. My original flight was flying into Bangkok from the US on May 14th which I did. The visa was still in the document approval processes and the embassy had already asked me to provide additional documents and asked for airline tickets proving I’m flying in from my home country as well as my exit flight. So I submitted my original flight ticket for coming into Bangkok on May 10th as well as an onward exit ticket for 58 days later.

I was just going to wait for it to be approved when I’m here in Thailand and just fly out within 30 days after it’s approved and fly back in with the METV. But I just got an email this morning from the consulate requesting thesame documents. Do I just submit my original flight and the onward travel tickets again or do I buy a new set of onward travel ticket for flying in at a later date ? I thought I just have to apply for the visa in my home country, but I’m already here. I didn’t expect my visa to take this long to be approved. Thank you in advance for any advice or help anyone can provide 🥺

My Thai tourist visa (purchased at the Thai embassy in Vientiane) will be completed (90 days) April 28. I need to stay a little longer. Can I get a second Thai tourist visa in Vientiane at the Thai embassy? Thanks. I'm a US citizen wth a normal (not diplomatic) passport.

US citizen married to a Thai.

How do I get this 1 year multi entry visa for visiting family from the Consulate in Chicago? The evisa website only lists single entry when I select non-immigrant and to stay with thai family (over 60 days) with no mention of duration.

Hi- I am a US citizen on a Non-B visa (married to Thai wife) and looking to do another yearly extension at ChaengWattana by June 07, 2024.

I saw I can apply for an extension 30 days prior (?) to my permitted stay date of June 07 which would be as early as May 08, but the main issue is I will be on overseas travel from May 2-12 and then again May 21-June 16.

Given that I'll only be in BKK from May 13-20, what are my options for extending my visa, especially if there is the 'under consideration' period (3 weeks?) where they hold your passport?

Thanks for any advice or recommendations.

I'd like to stay in Thailand for a few months starting around December. (Possibly longer than 90 days and i don't have a ticket yet). I'm going to Mexico City for a long weekend. Should I attempt to get a visa at the Thai embassy or just get one on arrival?
