Hi, can one apply for an E-Visa (TR60) from outside of one's home country of legal residence? I'm a U.S. citizen, currently in Thailand, intend to visit Cambodia or Vietnam once my visa is up here, and then apply for a TR60 E-Visa from Cambodia in order to re-enter Thailand. Or would they reject this since my entry flight to Thailand would not be from the U.S.? (sorry if this has already been covered - thanks!)

Edit: My intent with applying for another TR60 is to maximize my time with a 30-day extension, for a total of 90 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A U.S. citizen currently in Thailand can apply for a TR60 E-Visa from Cambodia after visiting. However, it is crucial to remember that visa applications should typically be submitted from the country of residence or where the applicant is currently located. The application may require evidence of a flight returning to Thailand. While technically possible to apply from another country, there may be additional scrutiny or delays in processing if applying from Cambodia without permanent residency there.

Just apply in Cambodia . Take 3 days to approve

To clarify, would this be a physical, in-person application for a TR60 from the Thai Embassy/Consulate?

This is what it states on the website..If applicant applies for a visa at the Embassy/Consulate in the country where the applicant does not have permanent residency, the visa approval process may take at least 1 month.

Technically there is no way they’d know you’re not in the country you’re applying to. However they’ll want evidence of a plane flight from there to Thailand. Could easily use a “onward” flight service for this.

E-visa is only a change in the way you submit your application, none of the rules have changed. You need to apply from a consulate in the country you are physically in.

When I applied for my e-visa from the US they asked to see a plane ticket from the US to Thailand.
