Does anyone know if a US citizen can apply for a ME Tourist visa in the US if they are retired? The requirements explicitly state “Employment Verification Letter”, but why would they not allow a retired person with verifiable income to have one? Since I’m only planning to live in Thailand part-time for the moment, using a visa that allows a 6-9 month stay without any of the cumbersome “new” regulations seems ideal for me.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A retired US citizen can apply for a ME Tourist visa in the US, but they may face challenges due to the requirement for an Employment Verification Letter. While the regulations do not explicitly exclude retired individuals with verifiable income, applicants should clarify with the Thai embassy or consulate whether their financial situation meets the visa criteria.
