I am US citizen, who owns his own business in the US and I don't pay myself a salary but installments. I have shown that I have more than $500K baht requirement with supporting documents to show I own 100% of my business but I have been requested to provide the following below...

It's frustrating because my fiancé got approved with no problem as a business owner but I keep getting asked for more documents... Mind you this is with the Thai Embassy in Los Angeles, CA.

Has any other business owners had to provide the following:

* Other request documents: Guarantee letter from the company implies that you work remotely

* Other request documents: Employment contract or employment certificate from company

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen who owns a business and applies for a Thai visa is facing difficulties in the document provision process despite fulfilling the financial requirements. The Thai Embassy in Los Angeles has requested additional documents, including a guarantee letter and an employment contract, to confirm the applicant's ability to work remotely. Community members suggest drafting letters from the company and creating employment-related documentation to support the application.

1. You have to write yourself a certificate of employment and guarantee which should not be hard

2. And a basic contract

just read through it. Doesn’t look like they asked to provide an employment contract to yourself… I’ve provided my articles, operating agreements and tax returns but they are still still asking for an employment contract to myself but I don’t pay myself a salary based on my CPA’s tax recommendation…. So I just wrote a very simple employment letter confirming my title as CEO based on being a single-member LLC

We will see if it works

if your letter does not state that you can work remotely you'll be asked again to provide that document. The embassy doesn't assume anything. They want it in writing.

I just wrote the letter to myself.

You've been in this group since September and there must have been at least 100 posts going over this exact same topic. Please take the time to read regarding remote work, employment contract, and employment certificate. They want to see it in writing clear as day that you are authorized to work remotely and specifically in Thailand.

I’m my own business owner so I never needed to draft an employment contract per my CPA instruction I don’t want to be legally W2 employee of my own company for tax purposes…

don't make it complicated. Write a letter on your company letterhead stating that you are contracted to work remotely, and sign it as the owner. It is that simple, as the only legal entity it goes to is the Thai embassy.

So easy front the US vs every where else.

Write a letter to the embassy saying you are the president of the company, you are authorized to work remotely, all your business is within the US, and sign it with your title.

Then provide your corp paperwork showing you as an officer. Done. Real simple.

I already provided proof of sole ownership through my operating agreement but I guess I’ll just write a letter to reconfirm… seems redundant 😅

@Andrew *******
Make sure you indicate you are authorized to work remotely and all your business is outside Thailand.

Got to meet the points.

I provided my NYS incorporation paperwork which has my name and title, my personal bank statement, my passport, my pix, and that letter. 4 weeks later I had my DTV.

No having to prove money there for a period of time. No payroll records. No blood or sperm samples.

Real simple.

Yeah just write up the letters basically from the position of hte business stating that you are authoritzed to work remotely and that your duties dont involve any work with Thai people or Thai companies and make up an employment contract for yourself

Don't bother unless you wanna monkey around with the income tax BS in TH. Spend under 180 days per calendar year in TH, just bounce between VN and TH. VN offers 3 month visas...

Your business just create whatever letters they want 😄

Other people have written a letter to themselves as the owner outlining their employment contract and clearly stating that they can work remotely from Thailand

just did this… we will see if it works. 🤞

Fairly standard.. They want to see the role can be done remote (letter from the company on Letterhead) and proof you work for the company (payroll report, payslip, employment contract etc).

Maybe include a tax return (I uploaded an annual statement)
