Hi,

I'm a US citizen. If I'm not in my country of residence (US), can I still use the Thailand eVisa online system to apply for a Tourist Visa or must I apply at the Thai consulate in the country I'm currently in? In other words, are eVisa's only available to those leaving from their home country to Thailand?

Thank You

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen can apply for a Thailand Tourist eVisa from their current location, as long as they can provide the necessary documents. It's important to check if the Thai embassy or consulate in that country supports the eVisa application for non-residents. In some cases, applicants may need to provide proof of their stay in that country and their travel itinerary to Thailand. If the eVisa is not available, applying at the Thai consulate in the current location is required.

On that note, we are done. You need to check the website of the embassy/consulate where you are staying currently if you want to apply for a visa to Thailand.

Check the Thai website in the country you are in now and see if they will do an evisa for a nonresident. You can always enter on Visa exempt for 30 days then extend that another 30 days for 2000 Thai baht.

You can't use the US e-visa system if you are not in the US. You need to use the appropriate system to your location be that e-visa or embassy

You are supposed to apply for a visa to Thailand at the Thai embassy/consulate in the country where you are currently in.

You can use eVisa online from where you are now away from your home country as long as you can provide the necessary documents.

You can apply for a visa on eVisa system to that embassy IF that embassy is on eVisa and it doesn't require you to have legal/permanent residency for SETV application (most embassies don't).

Usually, you need to provide passport stamps including an arrival stamp to that country and where you are staying/your address in that country, along with the air tickets travelling to Thailand leaving that country (direct/connecting).

It seems that other countries allowed in Asia to do this in are only China, Hong Kong and Macau along with South Korea. I wonder why more people don't just fly to one of these locations to renew their Thailand Tourist eVisa so they won't have to deal with going to the actual Thai consulate in Vietnam or other neighboring countries?

, Those are totally individual preferences where you want to travel and how long to stay there.

And unfortunately, it is not something to discuss in this group.

When I go to Thailand's eVisa website, they have an option to check unless I'm looking at this incorrectly. I'll be in South Korea wanting to apply on the Thailand eVisa site.
