Can I switch from a Muay Thai course to a Discover Thai Nature course on my Soft Power DTV visa in Thailand?

Hi, I’m planning to apply for the Soft Power DTV at the Thai Embassy in London. I’d like to start with a Muay Thai course, but I’m wondering - would it be possible to switch to a “Discover Thai Nature” course a few months after arriving in Thailand (before the first border run)? Or would I be required to stick with Muay Thai for the entire duration of the visa (up to 5 years)? Thanks in advance for any help or insight! 🙏🏻

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of switching from a Muay Thai course to a Discover Thai Nature course while on a Soft Power DTV visa in Thailand. Responses indicate that it is generally possible to switch courses without official monitoring or requirements for updating the visa, but some participants suggest the Muay Thai course may be safer for application approval due to mixed success with the nature course. Concerns regarding immigration checks after a border run were raised, but overall, there seems to be flexibility in course changes.

The discover nature course has mixed success for DTV applications, stick with Muay Thai for your application. So far there's no checking of continuing course requirements for border bounces, only for in country extensions

You should be able to switch to another approved activity. Whether this course will remain authorized or not is another story (some embassies already refuse it).

Anonymous participant 964 Have they only recently started refusing it, or has it been difficult to get it approved ever since the DTV was introduced?

Yes, unfortunately the London Embassy doesn’t accept it. I’m actually genuinely interested in the nature course, but they won’t approve it. Do you happen to know which country would be best to apply for the DTV with this course?

If I switch courses, do I need to update it anywhere officially? I’m a bit concerned about the border run after 180 days, what if the immigration officer asks me about the Muay Thai course and I can’t answer properly because I’ve since switched to the nature course? Would it be ok to explain to the officer that I changed courses?
