Does anyone have experience of switching from Non-Immigrant B visa extension to an education visa in country? Usually you need to leave the country, but want to do it in-country if possible due to COVID.
I am currently with work permit and non-immigrant B, but will be leaving my job and returning to university so I need to switch my visa.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of switching from a Non-Immigrant B visa to an education visa in Thailand typically requires leaving the country. However, due to COVID-19, it may be possible to do this in-country. You need to cancel your work permit and obtain documentation from your employer confirming your last working date. After canceling your extension based on employment, you can apply for a 60-day COVID extension. You'll then need to gather documentation from your university to apply for an in-country 90-day Non-ED visa. It's important to coordinate with both your university and the immigration office to ensure this process is feasible.
