UK citizen - applied on Monday to London. DTV received Tuesday afternoon after submitting a few extra documents Monday afternoon. Bloody brilliant. (Posting incase anyone else was wondering about waiting times) 🙏🏽 Extra documents required - (a better photo, a pdf of my return ticket (not the screenshot I'd uploaded), and a letter from my job to confirm i can work in Thailand addressed to the Thai embassy)

You had to submit a return ticket? With potentially a return date of 5 years from now?
Andi ***********
@Mark **********
Can not put a potential return date of 5 years must be within 180 days. Some embassies require an actual ticket of arrival and onward journey be bought, many are ok with an intended date,

Even if you have no intention of returning within 180 days? I.e. doing a run to Malaysia or wherever?

@Mark **********
Yes, an onward ticket can be required even if you have no intention of using it. Where are you applying? It depends on the embassy. I got mine in Taipei, no onward ticket needed just an intended date of departure.

I'm currently in Australia. I'm a British National intending to do the DTV thing from January. I can be pretty much anywhere when I apply for it, but are there rules around that? E.g. do I need proof of residency, as I won't have any other than my property that I rent out in UK. Thank you for this btw : )
Mark ***********
Yes, I am sponsored by a UK company but the visa expires in June. I understand that I can work for the UK company from Thailand under the DTV.

I'm not an Australian resident. My visa here expires in June. I hear Vietnam is a good place to apply, for whatever reason.
Andi ***********
Mark RushworthYeah, Vietnam is very good. I almost went there but chose Taipei due to their same day approval. You have an employment visa in Australia?
Andi ***********
@Mark **********
You can apply in Australia if you are a legal resident. Many countries in SE Asia you can apply as a tourist by showing your hotel booking, passport arrival stamp. Singapore you must be a resident. I'd avoid Malaysia as it is the most difficult embassy to apply from. You can get it easy enough back in the UK

Hey mate, if I may ask, which travel dates did you indicate in the application?

@Emmanuel ******
a week from now outbound. And less than 180 days on the return. Outbound flight booked, no return flight though

Thanks for clarifying. My departure date is in >1month and I was asked to provide an actual ticket with both arrival and onward journey. The processing time has also been quite slow, but I'm starting to suspect they priotise earlier departure dates.

Ok. What extra info ?

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Took 4 weeks for me. It seems to vary a lot!

Great you got approved so quick. There are a few waiting for over a week to get approved. Next day approvals were very common last year in London, hopefully a sign they back.

Andi ***********
