TLDR : Answer Summary
A user, moving permanently to Thailand at age 77, seeks advice on health insurance after receiving a quote of $1,200/month from CIGNA. Comments indicate that options for health insurance are limited at this age, with high premiums due to perceived risk. Some suggest self-insurance as a cost-effective alternative, citing experiences of paying out-of-pocket for medical expenses. It's noted that obtaining insurance is significantly easier before age 65, and recommendations for insurance providers like WrLife are mentioned.

I’ve had WRlife for five years and made two claims with them. Just make sure you disclose all pre-existing conditions. I pay about 65,000 a year for 7 million baht coverage. I’m 70.

A friend in his late 70s was admitted to Patong Hospital twice in the last 5 years, no health insurance, just paid the bill each time totaling 60,000 baht. Relatively cheap compared with monthly premiums. But, you should always think of the worst case scenario at your age. 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately, at your age you’ll be lucky to get insured, and if you do, it’s going to cost you. The time to get it is before you turn 65 for it to be affordable.

Sorry to say but you’re a bad risk at that age, hence the high premiums.

I am sorry but as far as I know WRLife is not a insurance company….. everyone who accept a insurance is a shareholder in the company…….. and I feel that this is something different ?
