Just a quick question please. If I come to Thailand on a normal tourist visa say 30 days, then pop to Japan for say a week, then return - do my 7 days extend my Thailand stay by 7 days? Sorry if it's not 100% clear

DTV Entrance - Chiang Mai, March 2026

Writing this as I think it's interesting to share. So I landed at CNX Airport, queueing in lane & later I just noticed I am the only one with DTV print-out; it's quite obvious because my I printed my DTV card in A6, slightly bigger than my passport.

Just within 5 minutes, one of the IO escorted me to another line (*the right one to be exact and I can tell I skipped 4-5 people before me, but I just followed what the IO asked me to; he's nice btw*). Gave my passport & DTV print-out. She only asked me if I flew from Singapore. I reckon' she's making sure because I was doing connecting flight from Bali to Chiang Mai via Singapore.

And that's all. No other question, no horror story, stamped, I thanked her, she nodded and smiled.

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the Certificate of Residence. Is it possible to obtain a Certificate of Residence while my visa/status is still under consideration (I have an “under consideration” stamp)?

I’m planning to buy a car, so I need to know if this will be an issue.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Can someone provide a sample of a non-resident “O.” Specifically, I am interested in the remark description that follows the visa type for

the initial visa issue by an Thai embassy. Does it state “other” or “retirement.”

"Mr. Nantiwat Samart" clearly explained that Thailand does not oppose any nationality, but should review the free visa measures and increase screening of tourists through the visa system.

On March 16, 2026, reporters reported that Nantiwat Samart, former secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and former deputy director of the National Intelligence Service, posted a message on his Facebook page, "Nantiwat Samart," regarding the calls to abolish the visa-free policy. He stated that Thailand does not have any anti-Semitic or anti-nationalist stance and continues to welcome foreign tourists to the country.

The post stated, "Regarding the cancellation of visa-free entry, there are currently many calls to abolish it. It's important to understand that Thailand does not discriminate against Jewish people or any particular nationality. Thailand still welcomes foreign tourists, but we will need to screen them. Thailand wants quality tourists with money, not tourists who intend to come to find work or settle in Thailand."

Furthermore, "the method of screening tourists is through the visa application process, where tourists must have a good record and sufficient income to support their travel. Not just anyone can enter Thailand. Thailand has many valuable assets to showcase to the world, but there is a fee for entry; it's not free. Don't focus too much on the number of tourists and forget about the safety and security of the country. Thailand is then at risk from terrorists, individuals with a history of involvement with scammers, online cybercrime, and foreign mafia groups."

However, "tourists who overstay their permitted time, whether Jewish or of other nationalities, must be asked to leave the country because it is unacceptable. If they want to stay in Thailand and work, they must apply for a different type of visa. Immigration must be much stricter with overstaying tourists and illegal immigrants. There aren't enough personnel or equipment; we need to urgently request this during this transition period between governments."

Hey, I wanted to ask if anyone knows from experience what the actual difference is between the DTV Soft and Nomad visions.

I'm wondering when my course end i leave Thailand after my course end return after can they ask why I returned and if I have a course or a return ticket? And can I work online for clients from another country with the DTV Soft? I will be grateful for some information 😊

So my Vietnamese wife and I stayed the better part of 4 months last year, broken up by a 3 day trip to Phom Pehn so as not to overstay 60 days.

This year, I encountered no problems entering again on a normal 60 day visa (US passport). However, my wife, traveling separately from HCMC, was detained and questioned, resulting in them making her sign a statement agreeing to leave after 3 weeks. Yet they still stamped her passport 60 days.

Something about if she wants to stay longer, then apply for a visa.

As far as I can tell, we have done nothing wrong. I want to stay 60 days, but she is terrified of issues if she doesnt depart as agreed.

What do you make of this ? She is afraid of blacklisting.

BKK AIRPORT

I entered Thailand for the second time today with a DTV visa. I left Thailand on January 28 and returned today. The immigration officer at Bangkok Airport (BKK) asked me how many days I had left. After answering, I received a new entry stamp for six months. My friend, who is in the same situation, entered without any questions at a different immigration officer.
