TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether it's necessary to print the DTV visa and show 20,000 THB in cash upon arriving in Thailand. Most commenters agree that printing the DTV visa is advisable for check-in and immigration purposes. While there is debate about the strictness of the 20,000 THB cash requirement, many assert that having proof of funds is generally expected, though not always enforced. Some suggest that travelers can use ATM services to demonstrate financial capability instead of carrying cash.

VibrantChestnut2703 Both 20k THB and print of visa are required in case IO asks for it.

Normally they will not ask for the 20k cash, but when they do and you don't have, you have a problem.

Also they will generally accept a copy of the visa on your phone, but when they ask for it on paper you just need it, even when this is only because the IO is in a bad mood.

So telling you don't need those things is just not a good advise.

Cause I ♥️ Thailand

I'll print my fresh Destination Thailand Visa, I'll print the Thailand DAC (both also for mutual smiling check-in at Hanoi). I'll hand over my boarding pass, passport and the 2 A4s to the Immigration Officer with a genuine smile, showing I respect him/her and Thailand. If you were the IO would you like that service from that guest to the Kingdom ?

I even ATM'ed the 20k baht while still in Thailand. Just to have it at hand. Why?

Cause I ♥️ Thailand

I'd rather ask, who uses cash, either at home or abroad? If you've been to Thailand, you know that even very small transactions at food stalls, or a bottle of water at the

No, but i read somewhere, more than likely the Siam Legal website, while I was looking at visas and what would best suit me that all visa exempt, tourist visa, DTV and Non Immigrant B all have the same entry requirements and one of those is the 20k.

theres no facts. The 'immigration act give this decision to immigration bureau. Ministry of interior fixed it in 2000 and it never changed.

For tourist visa : 20k per person or 40k for family

Sale for visa exemption

Tourist on arrival is 10k and 20k family

Theres nothing more since announcement and notification of MoI of 2000.

This is the only facts, that can be applied or not my immigration agent and suspended or not. But nothing new were published since 25 years

no. SETV and METV are the ones specified from the 2000 decision. Lol

Im not sure why you're trying to do.

DTV is tourist visa for BoT and banks.

but the visa is not covered by the 2000 law which specifically mentions SETV and METV.

And you just have to show any proof.

And if you dont have it, then you should stop traveling.

So its actually a non sense created by people who lying or inventing stories to hide their real situations.

you are wrong. the law does not specify and visa, it specifies visa categories as tourist visa, non immigrant visa, etc… see for yourself in the official law. but you can surely list another official source, right? lol… DTV is a tourist visa, also in the eyes of the creators, the MFA. it was listed as a tourist visa by authorities as well.

If I follow the rules and requests properly and then get called an amateur traveler, I'm glad I'm not a stubborn, childish professional who insists on doing everything differently than requested and is even proud of it.

But everyone has their own way of being happy. It's great that you ignore the request to show a boarding pass—a true hero!

You are vompletely off track here, I never even suggested to laminate the visa, because I think that is a bad idea. Laminating has no use at all, makes it more difficult to scan, and printing a new copy when you need is a matter of seconds.

Why should I pay and spend time on booking for fast track when I can pass just as fast without mr. Proffesional?

And you being friendly? 555

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
