TLDR : Answer Summary
An update on the Thai eVisa website has changed the category selection for the Non-O E-Visa for individuals over 50, categorizing it under new conditions that state applicants may stay in Thailand for no more than 90 days with a single entry. This change has raised some confusion and discussion among expats regarding its clarity and implications for longer stays.

FYI, even if you are on a single entry visa, you may still be able to get a multi entry permit to sit on top of it, once you’re in the country, from the immigration office, or at the airport if leaving from Bangkok (but you do need to allow up to a couple of hours extra to get out, don’t book a first flight of the day). I was here earlier this year on a three month single entry work visa and had to leave temporarily before coming back to complete the formalities to extend. A re-entry permit was granted no problems for a small (receipted) fee.
The non o single entry is for those who don’t want to stay longer than 90 days so not sure why you think it’s ambiguous. Its the first step to a longer stay
