Why was my 90-day tourist visa application cancelled?

Hi everyone! I submitted one week ago a tourist visa request for 90 days (single entry). I’m Italian so I applied online through the royal Thai embassy of Rome.

Yesterday I’ve been asked to reupload proof of accommodation and round trip flight from Italy. I’ve done so and today I received this very vague email, saying my application was cancelled without any explanation.

Anyone had a similar case?

I don’t mind reapplying again but if I don’t know why the application was cancelled in the first place I risk getting rejected once again.

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

.. but nobody told her, that she might have a problem with the airline by check in in at the airport- if her return flight is later than 60 days after entry 🇹🇭

Excuse my naivety guys, but is it now 60 days on arrival, with the option to extend for 30 at the end of the 60?

If you supplied a flight ticket and accomendation information for 90 days, but applyed for 60 days, then there would be a discrepancy between the 60 days you are allowed to stay, and the 90 days you are proving you will be staying, since you havent been granted the 30 days extension yet.

The rejection is not vague, since you will never be told a reason for rejection, as it say, on the Embassy website.

Next time research the requirements before applying.

90 days are not the same as 60 + 30 days.

Just ask them they will tell you why. Probably you did a mistake putting a wrong document number.

But the real mistake was applying for Tourist visa, as a italian you can enter 60 days without a visa.

My wife, a Ukranian, applied to the tourist visa like yourself to be rejected two times, then came in with the stamp. Probably its being rejected because you dont need it. Visa or stamp, its a 2 months + 1 now

Thanks everyone, I never applied to a visa for Thailand so I didn’t know any of this info above 🙏🏻

I wrote to the Thai embassy in Italy and they suggested to do the evisa for Tourist Visa (Recreation Learning) - 60 days+30 as I’m going to do my dive master training there. But then it was cancelled for some reason that’s not stated.

I have already paid the fee 😅, I guess there’s no way to get that refunded.

So as an Italian if I will land in Thailand next week I can get a visa free-entry on arrival at the airport in Bangkok for 60 days? I see that you are supposed to be doing some kind of ad hoc work or urgent work.. will they check that?

Thanks in advance 😊

scusa ma ci sono un milione di informazioni a riguardo . Ti stai complicando la vita come non mai !

the reason is simple if you mentioned dive master : you need a work permit for this as you will probably work for divers. No body cares but it’s illegal and most likely the embassy didn’t like it if you mentioned

no need work permit for your dive master training, I am an diving instructor in a Italian shop in koh tao! As Italian you get 60 days + 30 days if you wish to extend
@Bianca *******
didn't mention working as dive master!

as mentioned before we talk about the training being paid by “internship” which is very widely used in Koh Tao and is illegal without a work permit

I understand.. I will not be working but learning, but yeah it’s a gray area so maybe that’s why the mentioned that.

So to obtain the visa free entry what kind of proof do I have to show? (Return ticket within 60 days, bank account or what else)

it’s not a grey area.

Either you’re doing the Divemaster course and pay for this course in full. You can do this with a tourist visa (single entry or multiple entry) or if you return within 60 days you can make use of the visa exempt.

Or you are doing your Divemaster course as an intern where part of your course is “paid” by working for the dive club. In that case you’re not a tourist but an employer…

In the past, most western Divemasters were working illegally and stayed in the country on tourist visa with monthly ‘visa runs”. But I wouldn’t take that risk anymore.

you are coming to Thailand on holiday and during your holiday you will be diving, thats it. You will get 60 days on entry, and can then extend that for another 30 days for1,900 baht. Enjoy your holiday 😁

What Visa type did you actually apply for? There is no 90-Day tourist visa. The tourist visa is only for 60 days (valid for 3 months). Maybe you applied to wrong visa like the the 90-Day Non-Immigrant Visa?

You are Italian. You can get 60 + 30 days without any visa. They made you a favor by not taking your money.

I staid 6 months before my DTV just with a French passport and no visa.

Mo AmdlWhen you ask for evisa you pay upfront. And they never refund.

Cancelled mean you did a mistake or.forgot information, they can't change your request and you have to reapply and pay again for new request.

Tourist visa is very cheap so no problem for her

Was your visa fee taken/kept by the consulate? The wording that your application was cancelled as opposed to rejected or denied is ambiguous.

Probably because you are eligible for visa free entry?

Why apply for a tourist visa anyway? It gives you 60 days on entry, but with an Italian passport you’d get that entering with no visa - just a free visa exempt stamp.

If you travel time is less than 60 days I don't think you will get a tourist visa. It's moot if you can enter visa exempt for the same time frame.

But I would be surprised if they didn't do it for the money.

1) you don’t need a visa for 60 days and extend for 30 days 2) the evisa for tourist gives you the same 60 days with extension not 90 days.

Probably they either cancelled the application because you provided a return ticket after 60 days, or they just considered that the visa is useless for you?

Anyway requesting for a visa is useless in your case

You can probably go in for 60 days with a 30 day extension like Americans… You don’t need a visa for that. That could be why they canceled it.
