What should I do if my TR Visa application was declined due to discrepancies in place of issue on my Italian passport?

Hello all,

I applied for a normal TR Visa and it was DECLINED with the reason "place of issue in e-visa system not match with passport"... for understanding: I hold an italian passport but living in Germany. Place of issue was Hannover, Germany which I wrote in the e-visa system. This information is NOT visible on the first passport page of an italian passport which you also upload. Therefore Thai embassy said that place of issue would be Italy which is different than what I stated in the e-visa system.

I already wrote them a mail together with the page in my passport showing it was issued from the italian embassy in Hannover, Germany.

What should I do if they not accept this and want me to start a new visa process? My flight goes already next week and honestly spoken in my point of view this is a mistake by the embassy and not me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of having a TR Visa application declined because the place of issue did not match the details in the e-visa system. They hold an Italian passport but reside in Germany, and the discrepancy arises from the passport showing the issuing country as Italy. The user asks for advice on what to do if the embassy does not accept their clarification and requires them to start a new visa application, especially with an impending flight. Community comments suggest alternatives, including using the 60-day visa exemption available for Italian passport holders.

In certain European countries, you can only access E-visa if you prove residency in home country. I work as expat in Africa and it is impossible for to apply for e-visa as I don’t have registered address in home country

Why do you want a TR visa? You get 60 days visa exempt for free

You need to use whatever it says under "Authority" on the passport page

This would be „ MINISTRO AFFARI ESTERI E COOPERAZIONE INTERNAZIONALE“ which is translated like „Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation”…

Ok I will keep this in mind but it’s a little bit confusing than calling this field „place of issue“. For example I also hold a German Passport where the place of issue is literally the city of where you got the passport. This city name I used for previous visa applications with my German passport and never was a problem, so I applied the same logic This time… But ok if this is what they want, I will try it.

yes, just right of the issue date, probably not a city name but rather a code.

Just forget about it. If you have an Italian passport you'll receive a 60 day visa exempt stamp if you don't have a visa. That's the same amount of days as if you did have a tourist visa.

Yes you're right, but I stayed already 6 month on a METV in Thailand this year. Although I had a over 3 month long interruption in Europe, which should be ok for re entering Thailand again this year, I would like to even more decrease my risk to be rejected at Immigration since I have a visa.

it doesn't sound like you have enough time to get a new visa at this point if your flight is next week. It's already the weekend so even if you file a new visa application it won't even be looked at until Monday.
