Have I just made a big mistake on 60 day tourist visa application? I only attached details of inbound flight, and only the first weeks hotel.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their 60-day tourist visa application for Thailand, specifically about only providing details of their inbound flight and accommodation for the first week. Community responses indicate that this may not be a problem, as embassies typically ask for additional documentation if necessary. It's noted that requirements can vary by embassy and that some do not require onward flight tickets. Users recommend being prepared with an onward ticket, as airlines often request this at check-in. There is also discussion about the current state of visa rules in Thailand, mentioning the potential for changes in tourist visa policies.

I’m in the same position. If the goal is to tour/travel how could they expect a full itinerary?

It might make a difference depending where you are from ( different deals with every country ) but in general , as A Canadian, they don’t ask where we are staying at all, as long as we don’t overstay our visa ( they have penalties for that)

If the airline ask, just say you have a visa. Works for me

The UK embassy doesn't care from my experience, I can't speak for the rest though. However your biggest problem will likely be with the airline as most will ask to see an onwards/return flight when checking-in

yes, but it's shocking how many people don't realise until they get to the check-in counter at the airport, so it's worth mentioning every time

I've flown in a few times, only once asked at check in for evidence of return or onward travel, that was from Calcutta. It depends on the airline. What is worrying me is if it will affect my visa application.

Do you need to get the tourist visa , now that it's 60 days anyway on arrival?

there haven't been any changes to visa exempt. And if they do make changes, no one knows what those changes will be. They could increase visa exempt to 60 days but not allow extensions. It's much better to make your plans with a known factor such as a tourist visa being 60 days when you arrive and eligible for a 30 day extension.

i wouldnt think they would do it 60 days on arival and then no extention kinda defeating what there after to attract people but ya you never know im prefering to land for the 30 on arival then extend then to an out in again as the 60 day visa in nz is way not the cheapest option and i mite land on the 3rd and get 60 days anyway, travel is allways a bit of s gamble thats part of realy i feel

also there are more and reports of IO asking why you so many time on visa exemption. As he did with me on my last visit. I come in about 4 time a year and he recommended get a visa next time. So I am also doing a 60 TR clearly things are going this way. Yes I get the possible new 60 exemption but why take a chance and overall it will look better on your record for the future

From the UK they have never asked about an onging flight because you don't need one although the airline may query it.

Formally yes, but based on feedbacks they also issue TV just with an inbound ticket at the embassy in UK.

From London Thai Embassy: “Travel booking confirmation

- Flight details showing applicant’s name, departure date, all flights en route from UK/Ireland/UK territories to Thailand and onward ticket to another destination.”

****************************************************************

So you do need a ticket out of Thailand, when traveling with a 60 day tourist visa.

Agree, I would have bought an onward ticket anyway, even though the embassy issued me a tourist visa on a one way ticket.

The initial statement by
@Ricky *****
was that a onward flight wasn’t needed, but a quick look-up at the UK embassy shows that it is needed, when you want to do things by the book, and avoid problems.

In 4 applications, never been asked. If they did ask, just book it then and respond. They ask questions for anything incomplete in an application, they don't just refuse.

Depends on where you apply, but for several embassies this is sufficient for issuing a regular tourist visa, or else they will ask for additional documentation as mentioned.

Some embassies are fine with one way and some are not. First week of hotel should be okay. As Stuart said, they'll email you if they want anything additional
