Hoping for some advice from someone who can talk from experience.

I’ve recently built and moved to my new home. Unfortunately it appears I’ve either misplaced or thrown out by mistake my passport and Thai bank books. What are the steps I need to take to renew a passport and transfer my present visa etc?

Clueless as I’ve never made this mistake before.

TLDR : Answer Summary
In response to losing your passport and Thai bank books, the first step is to file a police report regarding the lost documents. Next, visit your embassy to apply for a new passport; consider asking about an emergency passport if you lack the original. Once you have the new passport, ensure to obtain a letter from your embassy confirming the reason for the new passport, as this is required by immigration authorities in Thailand to update your visa status. After securing your new passport, you can then approach your Thai bank to get your bank book replaced. It's also advisable to maintain copies of important documents to avoid similar situations in the future.

I would go and tell your bank first

Nightmare. I once thought I’d thrown my passport away and was flying to 🇬🇧 next day. I went into the skip which was crawling with maggots. Found it later in my briefcase.

The first priority is filing a police report for lost documents. The next important is your passport as you will not be able to get a new bank book(passport) without passport. I renewed my Belgium passport a few years ago and when they issued a new passport they gave me a letter stating the reason for the new passport which immigration required. With the new passport and letter everything was in order with immigration for them to stamp the new passport.

Then the trip to the bank.

Thank you Guys, it appears that the box with all these photocopies, passport and bank books is the one box that’s missing. However your recommendations are much appreciated, as I’ve not been in this situation before. Thanks

immigration has a copy of your passport front page, as does your bank.

I keep laminated passport and visa in wallet with D/L, so don't have to carry PP.

Also a photo on cell gallary

I hope all this information helps someone, and I’m very grateful for all the replies. I knew I had placed it in a safe place, but that even prevented me from finding it, until now! If it wasn’t for changing a leaky tap I’m might never have found it. What retard put a passport in a tool box?

This one!

Thank you to those who took the time to reply. I love the way people take the time to help out others, I hope one day I can return the favour.

Yes, British Passport applications in Thailand have nothing to do with the British Embassy. It all normally goes smoothly at VFS Trendy Building, Sukhmvit Soi 13 in Bangkok. There is also a Chiang Mai Office, with lesser hours and increased costs in some aspects. At the moment though it seems impossble to get any details re Trendy Building, hitherto the main office. I wonder whether they are in the process of moving as a Srinakarin Road address is also suddenly appearing but no more than an address. Suddenly a normally straightforward process looks confused. Poster, please be warned. Meantime this is helpful

OK finally found that they are in process of running down Trendy Building but still oK "ish" to 18.3.24. From 24.3.24 address will be VFS Thailand, The Shoppes at Belle Grand Rama 9, 131/1, 141/1, Unit BS003-BS003/1, 1st Floor, Rama 9, Huay Kwang, Bangkok,

, 1st Floor, Rama 9, Huay Kwang, Bangkok, 10310. Upshot for poster is be quick or use Chiang Mai though the costs have risen a lot there ie +GBP76.50. Wherever it is needed to book an appointment. I'm guessing that may now be difficult (?) for Trendy Building.

Thai bank books replaced at you bank and updated your passport must be applied for at your countries Embassy/ Consulate.Note:Always-Always keep a couple of copies of you passport and your Visa status
Brandon ************
File a police report about your passport and apply for a new one from your embassy or country. You might have to just get an emergency passport since you don't have the original, not sure. Not really a Facebook question it's an ask your government question.
