What should I do about my OA visa after my passport was destroyed and while getting a new one?

Update -

Today I visited the immigration offices in Bangkok to replace the stamp in my passport. I was required to show my bank book (for the 800K THB). An attempt to explain that it is not mentioned anywhere that the bank book must be presented-didn't help.

The IO clearly explained - every arrival at the immigration offices requires arrival with the bank book to prove that you have the 800K in the bank! It was not familiar to me, so I will have to go again tomorrow.

==========

My current passport was destroyed.

I am in the process of getting a new passport this week through the embassy.

What should I do about the visa in the old passport? (OA)

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their experience at the Bangkok immigration office regarding the requirement to present a bank book showing at least 800K THB for visa purposes. They are also dealing with a destroyed passport and inquire about the status of their OA visa. The community responds with advice on how to transfer visa details to the new passport and the need to update the bank book for visa extensions.

Just to let everyone know;

IF you are changing passports in BANGKOK with an extension based on retirement where you used banked money method <- the 800K baht you HAVE to update your bank book to get the extension stamps transferred into your new passport. It's a way they can see if you're following the seasoning requirements (800K baht in the account for 3 months after the extension is granted and then the account can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year)

Good info as usual, Tod. A little 'update wrinkle', good to know, and also points to why it's a good idea to monitor the posts, even for long-termers.

You take the police report and new passport to your immigration office and they will look up the last stamp (entry or extension) you had on the other passport and put it in the new passport.

Now as far as IF your OA visa was a still valid sticker in the old passport I think you lost that and it cannot get recovered. ๐Ÿ˜• BUT ask at your immigration office when you go to get the current stamps moved to the new passport. They'll tell you what if anything you can do.

However if it was the eVisa PDF, you could just print it out and show it as proof you have the still valid visa.

Thank you Tod!

Is it necessary to present a report from the police? The thing is that the pages in the passport started to detach from the cover of the passport and therefore it is necessary to issue a new one.

The sticker of the visa (OA) is no longer valid so it is not relevant. I am on an extension.

I am sorry I thought you "lost/destroyed" your passport in which case you would have had a police report about it

If you still have it (even though it is in the condition it's in) you take BOTH passports (and the letter from the embassy stating you got a new passport in thailand) to the immigration office and they will move the stamps
