What steps should I take to replace my lost US passport while holding a Non-O visa in Thailand?

My US passport has somehow turned up missing (I don't know how I'm really careful).

I have a Non O visa with a year's extension due to marriage.

My last extension was in late June and my next 90 report is mid-February.

Could someone please outline the process after I obtain a replacement?

If it goes longer than my 90 day report would I have any problems?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you lose your US passport while in Thailand on a Non-O visa, begin by reporting the loss to the police to obtain a police report. Then, contact your US embassy to apply for a replacement passport. After receiving your new passport, visit your immigration office to update your records and apply for transfer stamps, making sure you bring your police report and a letter from the embassy. If the process takes longer than your upcoming 90-day report, you may face a fine of up to 2000 THB for the delay, but it's advisable to check if you can report the delay online.

thats what I mean. who said anything about Lumpini or picking a police station at random.

, You need to go to the police station that serves the address the lost incident happened. You cannot pick the police station randomly.

If you mean that OP can go to Lumpini police station to report his passport lost while you are waiting for the appointment at the US embassy at the wireless road.

- Thanks, I live in Udon Thani and at home is where I lost the passport - I didn't know that it had to be the police station here, but that's where I would have gone and will go anyway.

The US Embassy wouldn't know Thailand immigration policy to move the stamps over

you can do the police report whilst waiting for the appointment

- I'm pretty sure I lost it in the house somewhere - I'm going to give it a few days before I schedule the appointment.

I just got a new passport 8 months ago and I got it in 2 weeks - much quicker than estimated.

Fortunately, I have a bit of time - unsettling though to not have it immediately handy.

- Thanks, I appreciate the response.

I have looked at the website and the instructions were pretty clear - I'll pull everything together and make an appointment.

Go to the police station to get a police report for lost passport and TM6 departure card. Then get your new passport from your embassy. Then go to your immigration office to apply for transfer stamps. You need a police report and embassy letter with your new passport. If you have the photos of stamps from the existing extension, bring them too. They would help.

If it'd take longer than your next 90days report due, you may be fined for 2000thb for the delay report. Nothing more than that, while you may try to report online if the issuance of your new passport is delayed.
