Old Australian passport expires this month so I got it renewed and new one arrived last week. Today I got a call from my husbands company immigration person saying that in order to transfer my visa/extension of stay from my old passport to my new one they need the piece of paper that came with my new passport in order to prove that I got the passport renewed?? I wasn’t told about it so I didn’t keep the paper- all it said was pretty much along the lines of ‘ here is your new passport, keep it safe.’
Has anyone else been asked for this when transferring visa/extension of stays into new passport? Or have you just needed to show both passports?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user needs to transfer their Thai visa from an old Australian passport to a newly issued one but was informed they require a specific document from their embassy to prove the new passport has replaced the old one. Various users suggest obtaining a stamp from the old passport indicating the new passport issued, as this is often accepted by Thai immigration authorities instead of a letter. They advise contacting the embassy promptly, as procedures may vary, and to be prepared with both the old and the new passport during the process.
