TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your visa from your old passport to your new passport while in Thailand, first obtain your new passport and any necessary documentation from your embassy. Then, take both the old and new passports, along with a letter from your embassy (if provided), to the immigration office. Fill out the required forms and submit photocopies as needed. It's advisable to check with the immigration office for specific requirements in your case, as experiences may vary.

And just like that we're done. I think the O/P knows how to transfer their stamps from one passport to another at the immigration office they use.

Thanx one and all for the comments (y)

The actual visa is never copied this is what i got at Don Mueang airport immi. I had no need of an embassy letter or stamp, i just showed him the old and new passports. I have successfully used it a few times such as renewing a drivers license

Let's keep in mind
@Al**
getting a new passport OUTSIDE the country and then flying in on it is NOT the same as getting a new passport INSIDE the country and then going to the immigration office to get your stamps, current extension and re-entry permit moved :/

he said he applied for a new passport at the Oz embassy.in BKK not overseas. Exactly the same as me. I am giving specific advice from my own experience.

I apologize
@Al**
, I did not mean to 'dis' you in the least, only to point out that changing passports at the airport is totally different from changing passports at the immigration office

It also depends on IF you have a multi-entry VISA <- sticker from a thai consulate in your passport, which means you DO show both passports when flying in and out until the visa in the old one expires

OR

If you have a yearly extension of stay and a re-entry permit which means you GO to the immigration office and transfer your stamps to the new passport before you fly out and then you only carry the new one.

and what I am saying is HE did NOT say he's leaving any time soon and you can't show up at the airport and get your stamps transferred unless you're flying IN/OUT

you mean they can only give you stamps i got at airports when you leave thailand? They can't do this at immi offices? If that's true then i was just lucky and won a little victory. Ha

I always take my two passports anyway, no big deal. And i like looking at the stamps and visas. I have 12 chinese visas in my old passport

you get the new passport from your consulate here take it, the letter they gave you stating you switched passports in country (which not all countries give) and your old passport to the immigration office where you get your extensions, fill out the form, make the copies and they'll move the extension stamps to your new passport

In Bangkok this is the copies you need
