Hi everyone!
My current visa expires at the end of this month and I will be doing a visa renewal then. My current passport has one free page left. I have just been notified that my new passport has arrived (thankfully). When I collect my new passport my current passport gets cancelled. My embassy is not being clear on what I need to do...
This how I understand it:
I collect my new passport. Cancel the current one. Obtain a letter from my embassy. Then at the end of the month I go to CW Immigration office with both passports and the letter from my embassy. Do the visa renewal in my new passport and I'm all good to go.
Is it as simple as that? Because I have my doubts π
Thanks in advance βΊοΈ
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking clarification on the process of renewing their visa in Thailand after receiving a new passport. They initially outline their understanding: collecting the new passport, canceling the old one, obtaining a letter from the embassy, and visiting the immigration office with both passports to complete the renewal. A commenter confirms this process but adds that the old passport will be canceled by the consulate when collecting the new one. They advise bringing both passports and the embassy letter to the immigration office, and filling out a 'transfer stamp' form to move the visa stamps to the new passport before applying for the visa extension.
