Ayy guys, so today is the last day for me in Thailand, i'll be leaving tomorrow. The thing is my stay here expires today, so I'll have one day overstay. I came 2nd of Dec and thought OK add 30 and i can stay until the 1st of Jan, but i forgot to add the same day. I was wondering what's the process here? Do i strictly go to airport boarder pass control and tell them that i overstayed one day and they will charge 500 or how does it go?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a one-day overstay in Thailand, proceed to the airport for passport control. They will recognize the overstay and direct you to a special desk where you will receive an overstay stamp in your passport. Typically, if the overstay is less than 24 hours, the fine may be waived at international airports. Ensure you have your flight ticket ready as evidence of your departure, and don't worry too much about potential issues from immigration, as there is no need for excessive concern.

you're not the first who calculate wrong and certainly not the last.

If you are on your way to the airport and you might get asked for your passport have also your ticket ready to show that you are leaving Thailand in a few hours. Those who try to scare all by telling that from the first minute into new year, the police is out in full force to catch every person with less then 24 hours overstay, need to go play outside or relax with a glass of water. Your fantasies are a little overworked.

Happy new year every body and stay safe.

This can serve as a reminder to people to look at the stamp in your passport to see your "leave by" date. It's actually much easier than doing the arithmetic.

Sure, everyone makes mistakes. We are human after all. They may have used the wrong stamp, transposed the dates on the stamp, or whatever. If it happens, just go to immigration and they will change it for free.

l was a day late once miscounted my days l was ushered to another desk at passport control no stamp no fine just told me to count arrival day as day 1. Good luck.

Don't always go off by the 'leave by" date though. If they stamped you on the wrong date, it's your responsibility to leave on the correct date, not theirs.

Go to the airport, at passport control they will notice the overstay, they will send you to a special desk, get a stamp overstay in your passport and off you go. Immigration offices are closed, so you can not get an Extension anywhere until 2 jan and on international airports the fine is waived if less than 24 hours overstay.
