Is it common for Thai Immigration to require a same-day bank letter for extending a Non-Resident O visa?

I started the process to extend my non-resident O visa today and had a disagreeable surprise at the bank. When they issued me my bank letter, they said that I would have to go to Immigration TODAY to do the extension, otherwise the letter would be invalid.

Used to be it would be accepted even if it was several days old. Luckily, my Immigration office is not terribly busy; I can't imagine what it would be like to do everything in one day if I were in Bangkok or Chiangmai. Is this common throughout the kingdom now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of extending a Non-Resident O visa in Thailand may vary significantly depending on the specific Immigration office. Many users reported that some offices require the bank letter to be dated the same day as the extension application, while others accept letters issued several days prior. Locations such as Rayong, Buriram, and Kanchanaburi follow the same-day policy, whereas cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai may allow for letters dated up to a week before the application. It's advisable to consult directly with the local Immigration office for precise requirements.

Different offices, different rules.

That's normal practice in Buriram. Only issue I had was Bangkok Bank out of the blue decided that they would only issue the letter if your 400k was in your account for at least 4 months. Totally screwed me as they gave no notice of this change of policy. Zero empathy!

Empathy ??? Unknown trait in Thailand.

Normal in Rayong too. Has to be same day :)

In Bangkok you can have the bank letter (and the year detail transaction report) dated up to a week before you apply for your extension. The only requirement they have is that you need to update your bank book on the day you apply
@George *******
your mistake is listening to your bank, NOT your immigration office..

Although I will admit there are a few offices that make you get the letter on the day you apply for your extension.

What office do you use for your year extension?
