Re the Non O Retirement visa extension form the Chiang Mai Immigration…I was told that the bank letter statement of funds could be up to 7 days old….?

Is this correct..?

And do you have to update the book bank on the same day or can you do the day before..? Or a few days before…?

Appreciate any information you might have.

TLDR : Answer Summary
For the Non O Retirement visa extension in Chiang Mai, the bank letter statement of funds can indeed be up to 7 days old according to most immigration offices. However, when it comes to updating your bank book, it must be done on the same day as the application. Many banks provide a passbook updater for this purpose, allowing you to update it at your convenience.

The standard bank letter at MOST offices can be up to 7 days old <- note I said most offices so you might wanna post on a C/M related f/b page to get the real info for your location (given the fact there are over 70 offices in the country)

As far as updating the bank book that has to be done the day you apply, there is no wiggle room on that. BUT many banks have a passbook updater in front of their location and you can do it whether they're open or not.

FWIW: this is what the standard bank letter looks like

that if you are getting a new yearly extension from an existing one where you are using banked money method (the 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only) you also need the bank to print out a year's detail transaction history.

This is to show that last year you kept the 800K baht in the account for 3 months after the extension was issued, and then never let the balance below 400K baht the rest of the year before you put it back to 8 two months before you apply for this new extension.

This only has to be done on a straight savings account, not a fixed deposit one where you leave the money in all year.

I’ve been keeping the 800,000 in a term deposit Tod….the Orange book at Bangkok Bank….

@Michael *****
you shouldn't have any problem then, just the standard bank letter and update the orange book (it will only update to show the last date interest was paid but that's okay)

IF you've updated your bank book at least every month to show that the balance was the same month in, month out you shouldn't have a problem

It's the people don't do that which is the reason they have you get that detail print out

ask your immigration office BEFORE you need to apply for your extension if it's needed because many banks take 5 days or so to get it for you (some can print it on the spot though)
