Today I made my retirement extension.

Yesterday i got my Bank statement. 24 hrs before application as the rules say.

BUT today Immigration said...You must get a Bankstatement same day as application!

So I had to go to the Bank.

Application succesfull, so I am happy. But confused over the rules.

Is it 24 hrs or same day ???

What happends if you and your Bank and Immigration is far away ???

TLDR : Answer Summary
The rules regarding obtaining a bank statement for a retirement visa extension in Thailand can vary significantly by location. While some immigration offices may require the bank statement to be dated the same day as the application, others might accept statements that are up to 24 hours old. Moreover, practical challenges arise for those living far from their bank or immigration office, as the distance can complicate the same-day requirement. Many expats in cities like Pattaya and Samut Prakan report that local immigration officers enforce the same-day rule strictly, while in Bangkok, it is more flexible, allowing bank letters to be up to 7 days old. Ultimately, communication with your local immigration office is key to understanding the specific requirements that apply to your situation.

And i guess it is time to stop the competition. If you managed to rent or buy a house hundreds of km away of your bank branch and hundreds of km in the other direction to your local Immigration Office, you need to do some planning and communication. Call, make arrangements to get the documents on the right place on the right time.

I have a 160 km drive to my office which means I have to go to my local branch for the docs then do the 3 hr drive. If I thought a branch near the imm office would give me I’d chance it but if they refused I’d have to go back again the next day. Not worth the risk.

I had the same issue 2 extensions back ( 2+ years ago ) .. he said you have yesterday’s date ? .. I said oh , I never knew , but my certificate I just got this morning , I dunno why the date says yesterday? .. it’s ok he said , go to the bank now and come back , no need to get another queue ticket .. which I did , so took about 3 hours but no point in moaning ..😏.

If you a planning a move to another province go and get a new savings account at a local branch close to the immigration office before you move. This will also give you time to season the funds in the new, local account. Some offices require letters same or previous day only and a local branch will become a necessity.

That might not work given the new seasoning requirements for banked money for retirement extensions :/ You need the money in the account for 2 months before you apply it has to stay in for 3 months after and you can't have the balance go below 400K the rest of the year. Moving the funds to a new account might "break that chain" as far as the requirements.

Wow, I guess we have it easy in Bangkok. The bank letter can be up to 7 days old BUT the bank book has to be updated the date you apply for the extension (most banks have branches in the basement of the government building so it's easy to update and get bank letters too).

Tod Daniels if my Bangkok Bank account is not in the government building at BKK CW can I get a letter/statement with regard to my 65k monthly transfers from that branch. Also, will they do that the same day.

Same day in Kanchanaburi both letter and bank book update.

In Samut Prakan both Bank letter and Book update should be no more than 24 hours.

In Pattaya you have to get the letter from the bank same day you go to Immigration, it's been that way for 2 years.

I think immigration will accept if you are able to show that the travel distance between your house, the bank branch in town and immigration is so big that it can not be visited in one day.

EDITED: It is rare indeed the office that requires the bank letter to be dated the day you apply for the extension. Sorry to hear that.

Maybe give details as to which office as policies can vary. Will be useful for others

All was updated one day before application.

But they forced me to have a bank letter dated same day as application.

This was my seventh extension.
