Last Wednesday I requested letter and 12 month statement from Bangkok Bank Headquarters and paid 200b fee. This morning I picked up statement which seems to be presented in several different ways but there is no letter. If this is needed could you please show me what it looks like? My appointment from Non O retirement extension is on Thursday.

Hi. Good post. I keep a copy of that letter (which others have posted) and show that copy to the Bangkok bank folks every year when my retirement extension is due. The folks at my branch see it and produce a new one. Repeat process for the next year πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

here is the letter I get for my retirement visa. This along with copy of each page of my bank book is all they required for renewal

if you update your savings account bank book enough (so that you have every transaction from the previous year) they'll often let slide the year detail transaction history

BUT

More and more immigration offices are asking for the year transaction detail print out because if you don't update your bank book enough it only prints money in money out summary since the last update not every transaction and that doesn't show if you met the requirements or not πŸ˜•

I use this bank only for retirement visa. It gets 1 transactions a year. That is a 1000B deposit on day letter is done. I use different bank account for all daily use.

@Ross ******
right a "frozen" account (one you don't use) they won't require a year transaction statement πŸ™‚

As Tod said update the bank book with a tiny deposit, this will ensure the current date is in the book.

Why do you need a 12 month statement. On the form from immigration it states 3 months

@Ross ******
i confirm your good recommendation.

@Patricia *******
, you are referring to an initial visa application while OP is talking about a 1-year extension at the local immigration office inside Thailand. Requirements for those are different.

I usually just stop in the bank in CW before the interview and get the letter and have my bank book updated, but last time I was sent back to get a printout of details as I never update my bankbook unless at CW. First time in 11 yrs getting the same extension etc that I was asked for this. Can't recall how far back IO wanted.

don't forget to update your bank book on the date you go to immigrations so it shows the balance on that date

I think I figured it out. There was a Thai document in envelope so I think this must be the letter even though it doesn’t look like one.

Use Google lens and see what it says. If you have not used Google lens, you need to start.

does the balance have any specific requirements? Ie transfer of money from own country bank account, or just to keep a minimum amount in the thai bank?
Ellie *******
@John ********
, You need to have the required minimum amount for your application.

@Tom *****
it's just a short letter (usually in thai) but your name will be on it, your account number and the balance on the date you got the letter issued

the 12 month detail statement is usually printed on paper that has those tear off side tabs and they have one page per month

The bank letter looks like this

Show them that image and they'll know what you need

Thank you so much. I live behind the bank and just went back. As usual 4 people had to get involved and 3 of them were clueless and this is their headquarters so you would think they would know better. I had requested letter up front but they did not understand. Had to pay an additional 100 b for a total of 300 b but now I have what I need.

@Tom *****
