TLDR : Answer Summary
Obtaining an address certificate in Bangkok on a tourist visa is generally not possible. Immigration offices in Bangkok require individuals to have completed their first 90-day reporting, which tourist visa holders do not do. Some users suggest getting a letter from the hotel where you are staying to use at immigration; however, this advice may not be applicable in Bangkok, where stricter rules are enforced. Engaging the services of a local agent or lawyer may be advised for assistance in navigating these requirements.

Try this as it has always worked for me & ppl I’ve taken to get one

Certificate of residence, ask the hotel where you are staying to do a letter for you, the letter needs your full name, date of birth, passport number, country of Origin/ passport, stating you are residing at the hotel & hotel address and contact number, take this letter to immigration and tell them you want to get a driver’s licence or bank account, They will supply you a letter in Thai writing & on that letter it will state it is for a Thai licence or bank account depending on what you tell them it’s for & will expire 30 days after date of issue, immigration office”s operate differently in different areas and depending on who serves you, if it doesn’t work in Bangkok, try another part of Thailand.

@Taz *********
where did you do this?
Taz **********
@Lyndon ***********
most recently immigration also asked for a copy of the hotel owners house book

He had already supplied this to me with a copy of his ID card

I had never been asked for a copy of this before, however things change

I’ve done it before in Pattaya

Khon Kaen

I took a friend in Pattaya on a tourist visa

Recently Udonthani

3 separate occasions for myself

Once for a friend

My girlfriend from Laos in a visa exempt 30 days in April this year

@Taz *********
yeah, NOT Bangkok

Your plan wouldn't work there...

@Lyndon ***********
try it and prove it wrong
Lyndon ************
@Taz *********
no need. I've dealt with Bangkok IO for three years. I know their policy regarding resident certs...

Your advice is irrelevant in Bangkok
Lyndon ************
When I was living in Bangkok 2020 it was impossible to get a residence cert, from immigration, without doing 90 day reports.

To get on a tambien bahn, you will need a residence cert from immigration, (in Kanchanaburi you also need a translated and notarised, birth certificate). So that's not going to work either.

In the end I used the services of an agent in Pattaya, for residence certs etc...

You have to be on a tambien then you go to your local district office and submit the paperwork it must be translated into Thai, pay the fee ฿100 or so then you’re registered….times vary….good luck

@Jeremy *******
not in Bangkok, without doing 90 day reports

HUH? a Farang can not be on a taem bien baan< only thais

are u referring to a certificate of residency?

In Bangkok you cant get one as you need to have done a 90 day report>

Even if married, you never will be listed in blue house book (called "tabian baan" by the way ทะเบียนบ้าน). Instead you will be listed in the yellow house book only.
Richard *********
yellow books as far as i know are issued to farang Condo owners<
Jeremy ********
Richard Reitman or residents in a Thai household or holder of property….not only condos
John **********
@Jeremy *******
not entirely true. I think you have to be married to the book holder before you can get in the blue book. If you're not married to a Thai then you don't go in any book unless you get a yellow book for owning a condo

@John *********
thats what i thought

I’m not married ahd I did it….soooooooooo

it’s an amazing place

@Richard ********
basically the home owner has to have you as a resident on their tambien bahn (blue book) with that you go to your local district office then after all the paperwork is completed you get the yellow book and the pink ID card…I did mine without a 90 day report
Paul *******
@Jeremy *******
understood, but does the certification of residency only become available after 90 days?
Jeremy ********
@Paul ******
timelines vary everywhere…

@Jeremy *******
yes...I see the other replies I missed before the new Q. Yup... other areas may have different rules...👍

@Paul ******
welcome to Thailand 🤣🤣
Paul *******
@Jeremy *******
haha...not yet, but in the works...Been there dozens of times visiting but no long term visa yet.
Brandon ************
You cannot. It is impossible. The immigration office in Bangkok will only issue you a residence certificate after you've done your first 90 day report. As you do not do any 90 day report on a tourist visa, you cannot get a residence certificate.

Hey
@Brandon ***********
, is this necessarily the same at other locals, such as Chaing mai for example?
Brandon ************
@Paul ******
Every province has their own local immigration office rules. In Chiang Mai you just need a TM30 and you can get a residence certificate regardless of what visa you have.
Dan ********
@Brandon ***********
Chiang Mai immigration are thankfully pretty user friendly in comparison to a lot of other places.

Last time I took only hotel receipt and original passport then went to immigration at patong peach then same day I collected
Richard *********
@Abdelkadir *******
Phuket take a screen shot of the tm30 your hotel/GH filed for you and the form> easy free to 300 baht
Brandon ************
@Abdelkadir *******
Every province in Thailand has their own immigration office with their own rules. Yes it's possible in Phuket, it's possible in Chiang Mai, probably possible in Pattaya. But it is not possible in Bangkok.
