TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Residence Certificate in Thailand, you generally need to have your address registered with the TM30 system, which should be done by your hotel or landlord within 24 hours of your arrival. The requirements to apply typically include: 1) A letter from your hotel or landlord confirming your residence, including your full name, date of birth, passport number, and hotel address. 2) A copy of your passport's bio page and your entry stamp. 3) A recent passport-sized photo. There may be a fee of approximately 300-500 baht for the certificate. The certificate is usually valid for only 30 days and may be required for activities like opening a bank account or obtaining a Thai driver's license. Specific requirements can vary by location, so it's advisable to check with your local immigration office.

You need a filed TM30. Usually your hotel or landlord should do this for you, but if they haven’t you can do yourself but the paperwork is a bit onerous.

If you have the TM30 then all you need is a copy of your passport data page, your latest entry stamp or visa stamp (both signed by you) and a passport sized photo.

If you don’t have the TM30 then you’d need to give more info as to where you’re stYing as in a hotel or rental accommodation etc.

Your landlord has to register you in the system for TM.30 and then send you a screenshot, which you take to immigration office with a copy of your passport photo page, a photo, your passport, and they will issue the certificate of residence.

your accommodation should have registered your address within 24 hrs of your arrival.

Hotels usually do it automatically.

If you are staying in a condo ask the landlord if they did.

If you are not registered you may have to do it yourself.

With all the owners ID and property ownership Information and a power of attorney to allow you to register yourself.

Hopefully it has been done for you.

Wanted to see how hard it’d be to help owner register.

I should clarify - the purpose is to get a residence cert for yellow book purposes at the Tessaban.

Not for bank or DL etc. I already have all that but have changed addresses.

Wherever you are in Thailand you will not get a residence certificate unless you have registered your address with tm30 or had someone do it for you. You are supposed to have had that done within 24 hours of entering Thailand. For most people ie tourists the hotel they are staying at does it for them.

the house owner or hotel should do it for you. Some private landlords have no idea about it and thus you need to do it yourself. You need copies of both house books signed by owner. You need a lease agreement signed by owner. You need copy of house owner id card signed. Tm 30 form completed and signed by house owner. Copy of your passport signed each page. I think that is it but check at your office as requirements vary.

For purposes of getting a Thai driving license, or purchase/sell a vehicle? You need to file your 90 day report first. Then immigration can issue residence certificate for you.

Get a letter from where you are staying, stating you reside there. List your name, country, date of birth, passport number

Take this letter & passport and passport sizes photos to your local immigration & request a certificate/ letter of residency to open a bank account, they usually charge 500 baht per letter.

Take this residency letter with your passport to a bank

The residency letter is only valid for 30 days

Go to a main branch usually helps

Bangkok bank & ? Kasikorn are the easiest

SCB requires a yellow house book to open an account

Krungshri requires you to have a retirement visa

Bangkok bank will usually ask you to buy a bank product

Accident insurance for 12 months, cheapest option is just under $6,000 baht

SCB does not require yellow book, I have an account there.

Krungsri does not require retirement visa, I opened one on a tourist visa.

But this is not for a bank, this is for yellow book registration.

Certificate of residence, ask the hotel where you are staying to do a letter for you, the letter needs your full name, date of birth, passport number, country of Origin/ passport, stating you are residing at the hotel & hotel address and contact number, take this letter to immigration and tell them you want to get a driver’s licence. They will supply you a letter in Thai writing & on that letter it will state it is for a Thai licence & will expire 30 days after date of issue.

This is same for bank account
