What documents do I need to obtain proof of residence certificates in Bangkok Immigration?

I need to get two proof of residence certificates at Thai Immigration (one each for driving license address change and new car registration). I live in Bangkok but have no 90-day report receipt as I just reentered from abroad (so have date of entry stamp in passport instead) and wondered if this service is back at Chiengwattana (the last time they sent me to Impact and they insisted they would not give me one without a current 90 day report certificate.)

Thanks if you can point me in the right direction 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining two proof of residence certificates for driving license address change and new car registration in Bangkok. They face issues as they lack a 90-day report receipt, having just reentered from abroad, and are unsure if the service is available at Chiengwattana after previously being redirected to Impact. Responses indicate that Bangkok Immigration typically requires a completed 90-day report before issuing residency certificates and confirm that the service can now be accessed at Chiengwattana following the shutdown of the Impact location.

What happens if you want to drive legally while in Thailand less than 90 days. I have a US license will be in Thailand 19 days but will return to retire. I thought it was easy to get a Thai license?

Do immigration actually check where your tm 30 address is to see if they both link as I’ve always used my home address but always in hotels all over the place 🤪🥊 and always used my home address for 90 days n res certs

Thanks everyone… I talked to the dealer and it seems that I can wait to register. When I do have the right documents, is it chiengwattana or impact that I go to for the residency certificate?

Your almost certainly out of luck until you can make a new 90 day report. You could try to rock up there with a new TM30 filed and ask but seemingly an elite visa holder tried to do the same but they wouldn’t let them. The people at Elite tried themselves too.

In which case i cannot register my car. Does that make me driving the car illegal?

It doesn't matter where your car is registered

if you are living at the exact same address, and a new TM30 was filed right after you returned, and that you're on a type O, they just might. You're old address on file that you are still at, technically your 90 day report is up to date, as your visa extension is still active. They can be sympathetic when they want. If you changed addresses then probably not.

It’s possibly worth a try but the OPs 90 day report would have expired the moment they left the country so it’s not “up to date”.

I know, but it's about the only possibility I can think of, if they even give him a queue number to ask someone that matters past the queue number desk.

Not up on that sort of thing but I’d doubt it would be an issue. If it’s insured and you have a current license then you’d probably be fine. Check with your dealer. I’m sure they’re used to new owners not being able to get certificates.

Bangkok Immigration will not issue a certificate of residence until you've done a 90-day report

If you're still on the continuance of your previous O visa, then your last 90-dayer should suffice. Give it a go and see what happens. You're on a long term visa so I don't think they'll say no, because what else can you do?

Thanks. I did a 90-day report many times including last year but it is out of date and so I only have an entry stamp in my passport for June 5th, 2023 and I won’t be able to get a new 90-day until end November as I have to travel in August. The UK embassy does not appear to offer this service. I have to register my new vehicle and update my license with the new address. Is there any other way to get this? Can I ask for a new 90-day report certificate even if I just arrived back in Thailand earlier this month and if not, any other ideas? Thanks.

Immigration won't accept a 90-day filing until 14 days prior to you being in the country for 90 days. What visa are you on?

I agree with Steve, I think your last 90-day report will suffice, as you're on a long term visa and there's been no reason for you to submit another in the meantime
