Can a hotel or guesthouse booking be used as proof of address for a Residence Certificate in Thailand?

Does anyone know if Immigration accepts a hotel or guesthouse booking as address proof to get a Residence Certificate? Or only apartments? Is a minimum rentral contract of x months needed? Thx

Also depends what visa you are on in Pattaya. You may need a copy of your landlords ID too. If you also haven't done or had a TM30 lodged, you'll need to get that sorted out too. Likely a fine to be paid.

It depends on the immigration office. The immigration office in Bangkok will only give you a Residence Certificate if you did a 90 days report. I heard in Pattaya it's also possible with a rental contract or sometimes even with a hotel booking. It also depends what you need the Certificate for. For example, if you want to open a bank account in Hua Hin, you can get the RC if you show them that the hotel notified them about your stay.

The hotel has to notify the immigration about your stay. Just go to the hotel and tell them you need a paper to prove, that you‘re staying there. Then take that to immigration. They will give you the certificate. Costs about 500 Baht and needs 2 passport pictures - not sure anymore about these details. We went to Bangkok Bank first, got a sample of that immigration letter, went there and asked for that, then the guy at the information counter gave as a form that the hotel had to fill in. Then back the next day and we got the Certificate. My father needed it and he was on visa exemption.

Hi patrik,

can you tell me please what do you mean by "as soon as the hotel notifies them about your stay" ?

Im renting out a place in HH longterm but I wasnt able to open a bank account in my name because I dont have a RC.
