TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses obtaining a Thai residence certificate on a tourist visa, particularly the challenges faced without filing a 90-day address report. Some users suggest that it may be possible to get this certificate from either the embassy or Thai immigration, but emphasize that local regulations regarding residency certification can vary by location, and a TM30 might be required in certain situations, especially for vehicle purchases.

Okay, let me re-phrase the question. Anyone acquire a residency certificate from your embassy or Thai immigration on a tourist visa BEFORE filing a 90-day report? Thanks....

On a tourist visa the only way you can get a notarized residence letter is from your embassy, as you have never filed a 90 day address report. If you mean a TM30, that some extensions require, that is a whole different story, and you should be able to get it from the hotel, or your landlord.

I've never known anyone to need a residence certificate to get a visa. To transfer ownership of a car or get a DL maybe.... do you mean TM30?
