With the new DTV visa, do you need the 500,000 Baht in your bank in a lump sum? I read somewhere they may accept proof of historic monthly income instead but don't think it was a reliable source?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Nomad) visa requires proof of funds, specifically a balance of at least 500,000 Baht in a bank account. While this amount is typically needed as a lump sum, there are discussions about whether historical monthly income could also be accepted, though this is less certain. Requirements can vary by embassy, with some possibly requiring the funds to have been held for a certain period or in specific currencies. Additionally, it's advisable to verify with the specific Thai embassy or consulate where you plan to submit your application for the most accurate information.

which ones ??

Thai embassy LA says it has to have 500k at the closing monthly end balance
Ellie *******
You need to check the exact Thai embassy/consulate you are applying for your visa through/at. Some require you to have funds for certain period in specific currency, some only want to see the latest balance. No one-for-all requirements.

And Many embassies have their own exchange rate table.
Barry ******
Depends on the embassy. Some will want to see it in their currency.

You can have a person act as a financial guarantor too. But that can get complicated.

@Barry *****
that's going to be interesting to see how it happens.

Some are asking a minimum balance in your current account for at least 3 months.

Sefton ********
@Ryan *******
to apply yes. To extend ?? We don't know.
James ********
@Ryan *******
unless your Thai Embassy or Consulate requires seasoning.
Bryan *******
@James *******
Has there been reports of a Thai Embassy or consulate requiring seasoning? If so, which ones?
James ********
@Bryan ******
not yet. BUT the key is to look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate website where you are planning to submit the application for the DTV visa.
Sefton ********
We also do not know yet if the incountry extensions need the 500k in a Thai bank or of any seasoning is needed before or after.
James ********
@Sefton *******

@Graham *****
yeah sadly that's all I've seen officially too.
James ********
Look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate website for their requirements for the DTV visa.

So far, it's a lump sum of 500,000 Thai baht in any bank account.

We watch for reports of others who have been successful in getting the new DTV visa

yeah I checked that I was just wondering if anyone had success with an alternative yet. Doesn't look likely then!

@James *******
anything to stop you transferring the money into an account to get the bank statement then transferring it out again? Or is that too dodgy?
James ********
@Alex **********
it's expected that you continue to have the 500,000 Thai baht in the bank. How that will be followed by Thai Immigration Officers is unknown as it's too new to see what's happening.
Kieran *******
@Alex **********
you could do that. I was thinking that for other people. But they could obviously see the transfer unless you just need a statement of balance. You can also photoshop it anyway at your own risk

@Alex **********
ask the embassy you will be applying at and ask for their requirements
