TLDR : Answer Summary
Once you have received your DTV visa, it appears that you do not need to maintain the 500,000 baht in your bank account. The funds are primarily checked during the visa application process. Future financial checks may occur when applying for an extension at the local immigration office after six months; otherwise, there is generally no ongoing requirement to keep the funds.
Tim Gascoine -"No one knows the answer to this since it's only been a few months. I think the only time you would have to prove something or show evidence is if you do your extension after 6 months at your local immigration office. There is always a chance that an immigration officer at the border could check, it's within his right, but very unlikely." similar stated in the famous youtube interview with an immigration official.
For now it is ok but if you extend via immigration you very likely have to show. You can be asked at anytime upon arrival at an airport. Rules are going to be announced within next few months regarding extensions.
i don't think it is going to be widespread asking but they can ask. I have never been asked for the 20K in all my years of travel but I make sure I'm covered, I think it will be like that.
