For DTV Visa

Does an applicant need to hold 500,000 THB for 3 months or 6 months for the financial evidence? Or recent savings is allowed? (I mean just newly saving 500,000 baht in new bank account and run for Bank statement is allowed?)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The holding period for the 500,000 THB financial evidence for the DTV Visa in Thailand can vary depending on the embassy where the application is submitted. Some sources indicate a requirement of 3 months, while others suggest 6 months or even less, particularly for Vientiane. Additionally, there are mentions of recently transferred funds possibly being accepted, which might alleviate the burden of holding the amount for an extended period.

Seems that 3 months is fine for Vientiane but others only need 1 month or even less.

Depends on the embassy you apply at. The UK had no requirements as to how long you had to have it saved.

From what I read on different posts it will depend where you apply, and even that is blurry. Some say Vientiane ask for 6 months but some post about recently transferred money and it’s fine, others say 3 months

6 months with all that money sitting is a little excessive but maybe ask your bank for a letter ? Maybe that will help

In Myanmar, some applicants who already received DTV visa said that there is no need to hold 500,000 THB for 3 months. It is only necessary to show bank transaction history within 3 months.

@Bastien *******
Yes so we have now confirmed its 3 months with Vientiane. Definitely not 1 month though.

@Bastien *******
Ok so Vientiane is 3 months now? In any case, less than 3 months won't work there. Other consulates, 1 month is sufficient.

@Paul ******
considering the last text I got 10 minutes ago I will say yes it’s 3 months, it’s « fine » but there’s better option, but I’ll try in October anyway
Marianna ********
@Bastien *******
so what's the best option then, because I only seem to find Jakarta accepting 1 months, but I worry if I book my flight and everything they change the rules in a month when I get there.
Bastien ********
@Marianna *******
sadly I can’t say for now, I’ll try Laos in October, Vietnam will move to E-Visa in October

Kuala Lumpur is very strict

Look for Cambodia, Jakarta or Taiwan but everything isn’t 100% sure

@Bastien *******
got it thanks. I am also confused about the comments. Someone says they want to see 3 months of transactions, someone says 3 months of banked 500K.
Paul *******
@Marianna *******
Vientiane is 3 months worth of banked funds and 6 months worth of statements. Cambodia will move to the e-visa system next month.
Marianna ********
@Paul ******
this evisa system is a bit confusing also. My country's evisa asks to apply from the country of the company, which doesn't make sense. And then how to prove the residence requirements, would Cambodian evisa ask for that. I don't see it clear
Paul *******
@Marianna *******
You don't need to be resident in Cambodia to apply even under the new e-visa system. Proof of location would come from a copy of your Cambodian visa + entry stamp (or stamp only) and/or current hotel booking.

aahhhh okey that's new! Thank you!

@Bastien *******
yeah... Holding all that money in 5 months is really stressful. I also heard that we don't need to hold the money in bank account. But it's not clear too.
Bastien ********
Anonymous participant sooo if you plan to apply in Vientiane I got this info just now

So I’ll say money on account for other embassy will be around 1-3 months proof with some exception that will accept newly deposited funds
Bastien ********
Anonymous participant I asked Vientiane Embassy I wait their answer, I know it’s not very popular as people say they ask for 6 months but I asked about :

Is a letter from the bank help?

Can money be split on several accounts ?

Can I show multiple bank accounts

How long the money have to sit

I’ll keep you updated if they answer

Thank you so much for your kindness.
Bastien ********
Anonymous participant don’t worry, it’s all very stressful for everyone and nobody want to loose 10.000 baht of application fee ahah

From what I have read, if you apply before October: Vietnam is a good option (search HCM on the group), Jakarta have some good comments too and Taiwan is a same day delivery for your visa, depends where you can go
Bastien ********
Anonymous participant I am preparing my documents for early October application

Noticed a funny thing (it’s horrible)

I hold the 500.000 on the same bank on two separate accounts and then one BUT for one months I am… 2000 baht under the 500.000

And that’s all because of the Change rate between baht and euro change !

@Bastien *******
I also want to apply in early October but I can prove 1month of banked 500K even though I have been legally working in Thailand, I want to swap to work for my company. So far from the comments only Jakarta accepts 1 months of money hold, but I don't know if I should risk Laos. They also just told me on the phone to bring all the docs and "will see".. so I am struggling to figure out where to book a flight and accommodation.
Bastien ********
@Marianna *******
they told me at least 3 months so I wouldn’t take the risk

I asked them more questions but slow answer

Maybe they will ask you when you apply to show funds on your account bank from phone but play it safe
Paul *******
@Marianna *******
Don't risk Laos. Someone recently confirmed they need 3 months worth of banked funds. Jakarta and HCM accept 1 month worth.
Marianna ********
@Paul ******
got it will try to find another option. Thank you

@Bastien *******
I doubt a difference of 2000 baht is going to be a deal-breaker.
Paul *******
@Wannikea ********
It probably will be. They want 500K banked for a certain period OR on the day you apply depending on the embassy. Thai bureaucracy is rarely flexible though it does depend on where you apply.

Most consulates will be fine with just a current balance. Vientiane requires 3 months.

0 Baht won't cut it there. Must be

@Paul ******
Vientiane is known to be a stickler about absolutely everything.
Paul *******
@Wannikea ********
Yes and I suspect the agent system has something to do about it. It's one of the few embassies or consulates filled with agents.
Bastien ********
@Wannikea ********
ahah a part of me would say « of course it’s nothing 2000 baht under for a month while money comes and go » especially when I have another bank with a good amount of money sleeping and my Thai bank

But I’m the overthinker guy who still have receipts of Visa extension he made over a year ago « just in case » so you imagine I want to play it EXTRA safe
