Immigration TM30 Notification of Residence of Foreigners

We have been told if you stay in the same residence, you do not need to re-submit every time you go away, as long as it's within a specific time period.

Is this correct ?

What is the time period ?

Many thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of re-submitting the TM30 Notification of Residence in Thailand varies by immigration office. Generally, if you travel abroad, you must re-file upon your return, typically within 24 hours. Some offices may not require this when traveling within Thailand, while others insist on re-registration after any trip. It is best to check with your specific immigration office for their rules.

When you check-in at a hotel, then they will make a new TM30, that cancels the previous one.

So when returning “ home “ you need to reregister.

If you rent a place and you keep this place and you go for example to the beach and rent a hotel room you dont have to do anything when you come back home. When you go abroad for example to Laos but keep the place and come back you have to submit tm30 again at immigration (you mostly get a new stamp/visa so tm30 is not connected to the new one). Had to deal with it couple of times and this is what they told me at immigration.

this is immigration specific. Some immigrations allow you to skip the new registration when you return from inland travel in Thailand, others don't. In most immigrations however they insist that you register anew after returning from an abroad trip. Visit your immigration and ask how they treat it

That’s office dependent. Some allow for that others don’t.

In Phuket if you’ve traveled overseas or even stayed away in a hotel or somewhere that files a TM30 then you’ll need to re-file yours on your return.

It should be within 24 hours of your return. Do it online and it takes about 3 minutes.
