TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM 30 form must be filed each time you return to Thailand after a holiday abroad, particularly when staying at your own residence. However, the enforcement of this requirement can vary by region, as some expats have reported inconsistent checks, especially in Chiang Mai. Generally, after the first report, subsequent reports are advised to be done within a two-month window. It is important to comply with this to avoid fines, which can be around ฿1,600 for failure to file.
So, I should be reporting the fact that I’m staying at my wife’s house every time I visit? Or more accurately, she should? All I’ve ever done is fill out the arrival card.
I read your initial post wrote. Sorry. What I meant was that if you don't leave the country, who is the wiser? Now I read that hotels report you. OK. So, must comply.
IF you are on a visa and don't need to go to the immigration office for an extension, a 90 day report, a residence certificate etc there is no way the immigration office will know you are staying where you are.
It's only when people who show up at the immigration office to get something done that they find out a TM.30 wasn't filed and fine them.
They’ve only just recently started to crack down on it and CM are hot because they realise there’s lots of ฿1,600s out there just waiting to be harvested!
I have a blue and a yellow never been asked for anything ever. I come and go many times in a year. No one asks me. Chiang Mai is where I live. Don't understand why and don't know why others get asked. 16 years I've been here.
I’ve been here 24 years. This year was the first year that I was required to do a TM30. But once you were in their computer, you have to report within 24 hours when you return to the country.
Nope. Nothing to do with who is on the Tabien Baan. If you have ever received a TM 30, you are required to report to Immigration within 24 hours after your return.
