Hi. The owner of my room provided TM 30 on the day I moved in and it was for 1 year.

But I went out of Thailand last week and came back. Do I need to ask for the TM30 again?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The new resident is inquiring about the necessity of reapplying for the TM30 form after returning to Thailand. Community responses indicate that requirements can vary based on location and specific immigration office policy. Officially, re-registration may be necessary, especially if the individual has been abroad. However, some users suggest that if there are no plans to interact with immigration within the next 180 days, it may not be required.

Have you stayed on any other hotel or location in Thailand since you obtained your TM30 from the landlord?

If you stay even one night elsewhere then your TM30 for the rental won’t show in the system at all, so immigration won’t be able to process the paperwork.

As pointed out, "It depends". Some offices ask to re-register after staying away a night. Some ask only if you have been overseas.

Some change their minds often about what they require ie they want you to then when you get there say no need. Unofficial. it is too much work.

It depends on location, some immigration offices do, some don’t.

Im kinda wondering the same thing specifically about Bangkok.

Bangkok will ask for the TM30. I’ve been to both offices in Bangkok a lot over the past two + years and they have been asking for it. I was actually charged 800฿ for not filing it.

thanks! That’s is a different answer 😉 Any immigration office will always want to see the TM30, but not all require to resubmit every entry when on long term rental.

sorry, I wasn’t more clear in my original reply.

Bangkok offices weren’t always this strict with the TM30. These days, they want to see that you’ve submitted after every time you’ve left the country and returned. It’s a PITA to be honest. 🍻

i know they will ask for it. Thats not question. The question is if you have long term rental contracts, TM 30 submitted for the duration of the contact. When you leave for a short trip and come back, if you need your landlord to resubmit it every time you take a short trip outside the country.

Every single time you leave the country and return, you need to resubmit the TM30. This is with the Bangkok offices. It doesn’t matter if your rental contact is for 1, 5 or 10 years. You leave the country, you resubmit the TM30.

Officially yes. But if you don’t plan to interact with immigration in the next 180 days then you don’t actually need to

And I should add that immigration (Bkk) doesn’t seem to care about the date of the TM30. So I’ve done one a week or more after I arrived. For 90 day report they just want to see A TM30 on file.
